Kick Off August! 10 Amazing Things Going Down This Weekend in NYC

You're either bummed beyond belief that summer is slowly ending, or weirdly excited for any and all things winter.

Either way, we still want you to have the best time of your life, all the time.

Which is why we make these dope to-do lists for you every weekend. We care about your happiness and overall sense of clarity in this big a$$ city.

So join us this weekend for a few ballin' events, and even bring some friends.

If you don't have friends, that's okay. Come anyway and find some. Cheers!

Friday, August 4th

1. Free First Fridays @ Frick

frickcollection

Bet you can't say this one 5 times fast! This Friday, the Frick Collection is offering free admittance into the museum along with free gallery programs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This is the last time before October, since the museum doesn't offer this First Friday deal in September and January, so catch it tomorrow if you want to go! Get cultured and learn some ish about ART HISTORY because it's more important than you might think. Woo!

2. Jurassic Park Drinking Game

videologybarandcinema

This is so cool holy $h!t. And everyone who took advantage of the "Advanced Purchase" ticket option agrees, considering the pre-event sale is over. Lucky for you, tickets will be still available for sale at the door around 11:30 p.m., 30 minutes before the event starts.

So if you love drinking AND the idea of giant dinosaurs attacking humans in the modern technological age, then you already have Friday plans tomorrow in Brooklyn. Tickets are $12.  At Videology Bar & Cinema. You're so, so welcome pal.

3. Quiet Clubbing Party

quietevents

We already told you about this dope event happening later this month, but because you might have ignored us, here it is again. Quiet Clubbing is the new rage in NYC, because New Yorkers like to challenge every norm, ever.

Hit up Bohemian Beer Garden in Queens this Friday aka tomorrow, for beer and bumpin' music. Quietly. You just need to pay $5 for your ticket, unless you're lazy and want to wait until you get there. Then it's $15. WHICH IS STILL GR8 because you can enjoy this epic party on a budget. See you there at 10 p.m.!

4. Free Bar-Hopping White-Attire Party

solotrendz

This bar crawl is going to feel like a ritzy beach club party and we don't necessarily hate that. Well maybe, but the bar hopping is all that matters. Starting at The Bowery Beer Garden in Chinatown, this party will move along to different bars from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Make sure to wear white, but perhaps some white that you don't mind getting ruined. This is a bar crawl after all, and spilling is almost inevitable. Happy dressing, see you there!

Saturday, August 5th

5. Citi Summer Streets Week 1

theevelynnyc

We can't stop thinking about Citi Summer Streets and it's finally here this weekend! This amazing free event starts this Saturday, August 5th, and gives New Yorkers the opportunity to experience summer with inflatable water parks, snacks, makeshift rock climbing and much more!

Since there's so much going on at the 6 rest stops along the way, it's probably easier to just check out this map of the routes and activities. Bring your swim suits and energy and get ready for the first week of Citi Summer Streets!

6. Moulin Rouge! with Absinthe

lisarosa___

Oooooh this is intriguing AF. This Saturday at Videology Bar & Cinema, you'll be able to catch Moulin Rouge with a side of liquid hallucination in the form of Absinthe.

At either 7:45 p.m. or 10:30 p.m., catch a showing of the notorious film and sip on a complimentary glass of green buzz juice (still talkin' Absinthe here) and enjoy the night with some equally dope people. Get your tickets here

7. Shades and Sangria Day Party

julieherskind

Did someone say sangria?!?!?!? Yes, 100%. Come join us at The Attic Rooftop and Lounge this Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., while the open sangria bar stays lit for one full hour until 6 p.m. (Which means it obvi starts at 5.)

You better gather all your friends and maybe the fam you don't hate, and celebrate summer at this day party. See. You. THERE.

8. First Caturday NY at Central Park

samiis4ever

Cat lovers, unite. This one's for you. If you love felines or have a feline who loves the outdoors, then you better meet at Cherry Hill in Central Park this Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cats will be napping, playing with their owners and other cats, and honestly anything else outdoor cats do. Come with your cat or be that creepy person in the corner of the park trying to smuggle cats away. Actually that might be illegal. Anyway, have a safe Caturday everyone!

Sunday, August 6th

9. Brooklyn Music Festival

We love Brooklyn, can't you tell? But if you haven't fell in love with this amazing borough yet, then try this weekend's Brooklyn Music Festival on for size, and let us know how you love it.
