We've been following the story of My Micro New York for a while now, because micro units in New York City are on the one hand, a no brainer. On the other hand, don't we already all live in a micro unit?

It might feel like we do, and a recent Long Island City development is even advertising their units that measure in close to double the official micro designation as "micro."

So, people are into this trend. But we can't even call them apartments because that word takes up too much space not to be hypocritical.

While it's kind of difficult to understand why anyone would want to live in micro apartment measuring between 250 and 370 square feet, people began applying for units in My Micro New York a while ago.

Besides the fact that the units are tiny, the building is something new for NYC. With a extra lofty echelon of skyscrapers called "super talls" becoming the norm for Manhattan development, it's kind of silly to get excited about the tallest building with the smallest apartments...

But none the less, My Micro New York will be the tallest modular building in Manhattan as well as the first micro unit building in Manhattan. Pretty neat, right?

There are so many people living here that it's about time we figured out a way to use our city's space more efficiently. Now a documentary is being made tracking the progress of the tallest modular structure in the City going up.
