Taller than the Chrysler Building, as glistening as the new World Trade, and supposedly due to be finished by 2020-- the "supertall" skyscraper called One Vanderbilt approved last May will tower over Midtown East from its position just next to Grand Central Terminal.

Designed by architect Kohn Pedersen Fox, One Vanderbilt, including the roof ornament, will round out at a massive 1,500 above street level. 

It'll include a 200,000 square foot TD Bank on the ground level, have 63 floors and 1.7 million square feet of space total. 

New York City is clearly no stranger to skyscrapers, but this one is pretty rad for a few reasons. 

Not the least of which is, as we mentioned above, that it's going to spank the Chrysler Building in height and prestige, at least in the contemporary sense. 

It will be taller than One World Trade Center, making them two of the most visible structures in all of Manhattan, able to be seen from miles away.

At the base will be the TD Bank space, underground access to Grand Central Terminal, and more yet to be announced.

This tower, the latest in a craze of development all around NYC. 

You see, when all is said and done, we should have Hudson Yards, about a gillion more luxury condos, this bad boy One Vanderbilt, the Lowline Park, and hopefully the Second Avenue Subway-- all completed by 2030.

So in the next 15 years, look forward to a butt load of construction everywhere you go, ruining your naps and scaring your pets...
