I’m a big fan of good food and warm environments, and that’s what made Mom’s Kitchen’s so fantastic.

The Shrimp & Cheesy Grits, Return of the Mac, and Chicken and Waffle are patron favorites. Sweet tooth? Make sure to order one of the bigger-than-your-face shakes.

Have a desire to brush up on your poses and prose?

The New York Public Library partners with poet Ricardo Alberto Maldonado to bring you Poetry and Yoga. A yoga class guided not only by the soothing words of your instructor but by poetry read live by its author.

Maldonado poems and translations have appeared or are forthcoming in Poetry, Boston Review, Guernica, Denver Quarterly. He is also the recipient of poetry fellowships from Queer/Arts/Mentorship and the New York Foundation for the Arts. With lines like “And yet expansive, the things made by the things I made. And a supervisor hovering behind me. The heaviness of being,” you won’t wanna mess bending to this.

Make sure to bring a mat!
