Governor's Island is the perfect escape from the chaos of city life and lucky for us this year, the Island is opening a month early on May 1st!

And this season, the park seems to be on steroids. Offering new events, attractions, and membership perks, the Island is going be lit AF.

For the first time ever, the Island will be offering annual memberships! They range from $50 to $1,000 with differing perks.

For my fellow singles, the cost is $50 for free roundtrip ferry rides, bike rides, and discounts for vendors and events. They also have family memberships.

And for those financially responsible New Yorkers that can afford it (how can I be you?), a $250 "stewardship" level membership comes with four free ferry rides for guests, as well as after-hours or early morning access to the island on select dates.

For the high rollers, $500 and $1,000 memberships include perks like private tours of the island's historic spots and a catered picnic for you and six friends.

If you thought that was awesome, just check out our list of attractions going down this summer.

If you've ever been to a Holi Hai festival, you know that it can get pretty wild, to say the least. There'll be one going down on May 6th on the Island. The event is free, but you can grab tickets that include white t-shirts and the colored powder here.

If turning into a human rainbow isn't your thing, there are a plethora of other outdoor events for you to enjoy.

Many New Yorkers already take advantage of the bike pathways on the Island, but this year they'll be offering free one-hour bike rentals every weekday from 10AM-12PM.

And...wait for it...you can now ZIPLINE at Governor's Island. How sick is that? There'll also be a climbing wall and maze to add to the awesomeness.

The best attraction of them all, in our opinion, is the new oyster bar and beer garden opening up.

The Island already boast over two dozen vendors, but Island Oyster—a pop-up oyster bar and beer garden from the folks behind Grand Banks— is giving its competition a run for its money. The beer garden will be serving amazing seafood and offering delicious cocktails.

Why spend your weekends on the Great Lawn when all of this is going down just a ferry ride away?
