It's the most wonderful time of the year for New York City's geekiest population. New York Comic Con is THIS WEEKEND.
By now, those of you who are going have already survived the blood bath that was getting tickets, you've re-painted the final details into your cosplay, and you've mapped out the panels you're attending. And if you're a true NYCC vet, you've picked out your afterparties.
If you think the party starts and ends with the doors to the Javits, oh damn, you are sooo wrong.
Here's a not-so-secret secret– NYCC after hours gets LIT.
We've rounded up a bunch of parties for you to check out to kick off the weekend, to wander over to when you get kicked off the show floor, and to commiserate with fellow nerds when you get hit with post- con blues.
Don't forget to take a shot every time you see a Suicide Squad Harley Quinn (disclaimer: please, do not actually do this)!
Wednesday, October 5th
If your cosplay is all ready, you don't need to wait for the con to start! This fundraising revue will feature magic, burlesque, comedy, and some dope raffles.

Head to Jimmy's No. 43 at 43 East 7th Street between 9:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. Grab a ticket here!
Thursday, October 6th
Anime Dance Music Annual NYCC Party
Anime at NYCC has shrunk significantly but if you're down (and want to show off the fact that you still remember all of the Haruhi Suzumiya dance), get to Open House at 244 East Houston Street to dance it out. There will also be a cosplay contest.
This even is organized by Bare Canvas sounds and the DJ The Contro1freak, who was a mainstream genre DJ until he switched to taking music from Animes he liked and playing those tracks instead. He'll be DJing along with DJ Si-Guy, Zenpai, and Kenneth Rage.
RSVP here for free admission (without, it's $5).
Friday, October 7th
UM, is there anything better than a booze cruise? Yes, and it's a booze cruise with the Avengers. Or people dressed like the Avengers. You get it.
Don't miss the cruise of your geekiest dreams– it's aboard the Circle Line Manhattan and departs from the Circle Line Pier (Pier 83) at 42nd Street at 8:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. The bars are cash only, so stop at an ATM beforehand, and it's an 18+ event– sorry kiddies. Grab your ticket here.
Comic Con Brooklyn Defender Pub Crawl
This pub crawl is conveniently right in Daredevil's neighborhood, so you can wander straight over after you leave the Javits on Friday. Also, keep your costume on!
Catch them at House of Brews 51st Street from 6 to 7 p.m., Jolly Monk from 7- 8 p.m., and NY Beer Company from 8- 9 p.m. Score $5 drafts of Defender IPA and other Brooklyn faves, swaaag, and more.
Get more deets here.
Saturday, October 8th
Stay in cosplay if you've got one and wander over to Lucky Strike a couple blocks away at 624-660 West 42nd Street for a 90's (to now, but whatever) dance party, 90's (also to now) video game room, raffle, door prizes, and "nerdy" cocktails.
This one's 21+ because ONLY '90s KIDS REMEMBER THE '90s! Buy your tickets here.
Yolo ~ NYC Comic Con After Party ~
Go here to get seriously lit. This party starts at 11 p.m. and you can dance it up until 4 a.m. so this might not be for you if you've got a 3-day pass.
Head to XL Nightclub at 512 West 42nd Street (so maybe you can just walk-of-shame-it back to the Javits in the morning?) for hookah, drink specials, and 4 DJs spinning beats. Tix are here.
WinC x Blastr Fangrrls x Montasy Chapter 2 NYCC After Party
This one's for you, geek girls (note: this was written by a geek girl, so it's okay)! In honor of NYCC, Montasy Comics on 5th Avenue is hosting a bunch of events from 7:30 until 10:00 p.m.
They're collaborating with Blastr.com's Blastr Fangrrls to bring you a book signing/ author Q&A with members of the Women in Comics Collective. There'll also be refreshments, raffles, giveaways, and some special guests. Read the full details here.
NYCC Boozy Bowling After Party
If you're one of the unlucky who couldn't score tickets to NYCC, this after party welcomes the badge-less, so attend this party whether you spent the day on the show floor or not.

Head to Bowlmore Times Square at 222 West 44th Street. They'll have unlimited bowling, arcade games, a dance floor, contests, raffles, prizes, and more! Heads up, cash bar only! Purchase your tix here!
Sunday, October 9th
Wind down after the crazy weekend at the 6th annual NYCC After Party by Gaimova. They'll be hosting a Smash Bros Wii U tourney, anime screenings, and a dance floor with a DJ (they'll be spinning TOP 40's, house, and freestyle so don't worry if you're a little burned out on fandom tunes).
You can also get your own mini room to host gaming sessions if you bring your own console and games (and friends). This is one is also close-ish to the Javits at 3 West 25th Street, inside Radio Star Karaoke. The party starts at 6 p.m. until midnight. Read about their full list of events here.
