The Friday Night Light Dancing event promises a dance session by Brooklyn Ed and art installations from Voodo Fe. There will be free slushies served by Villa Pancho Taqueria and numerous outdoor games to play like giant Jenga and Connect Four.

The free event series on the lawn at Carnegie Hall is presenting Night Of Inspiration. Vivian Scott Chew and Ray Chew are performing once again this weekend after their last 4 successful seasons. Since their memorable event, A Night Of Inspiration and Sing-Along: The Music of Stevie Wonder, crowds are anticipating another memorable show. Music lovers can listen to solo highlights and group ensembles inspired by an array of traditions that will melt away stress and ignite wonder.

Museums rich in art, artifacts and educational content offer free hours during different days and hours throughout New York. One of the participating venues is The Whitney Museum Of American Art, one of the largest collections of 20th-century American art. Each year ushers in 15 exhibitions, some of which are historical surveys or group shows. Art lovers can enjoy the evening and observe the newest collections for free, just arrive early.

Free Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Screening (Seguine Avenue and Johnston Terrace, Staten Island @ 8:30 PM)

Bring your popcorn and a blanket! Head down to the grass at Lemon Creek Park for a free film thanks to the NYC Parks and the New York City’s Mayor Office of Media and Entertainment. The program has provided free film screenings outdoors on roofs, lawns, boat decks and waterfronts all summer. It is a great opportunity to merge cinema, nature, a picnic and bonding time free of charge. The featured film is all about action and fantasy as the Guardians work as a team to deal with the fate of the galaxy in the face of evil.

Strike a pose! The organizers of Fashion On The Hudson are returning for their 22nd show this weekend. The editorial team from Fashion Avenue News, a monthly print publication in NYC, are behind the free fashion show and its initiative to create more inclusive events for the industry. Their fight for representation, inclusion, and safety as well as fierce looks and glam fuel the annual event. The venue is welcoming everyone to attend the show and grab their rsvp before it reaches capacity. The Riverbank Cultural Center will house the show and all of the independent designers and models regardless of height, weight, orientation, skin color or background.

Katra Lounge NYC (217 Bowery, Manhattan @ 11 PM)

Why pay to play when you can get in and drink for no cost? Anything free in NYC is appreciated, even if it’s only until midnight. Katra Lounge is hosting Certified Saturday this weekend, with music from Dj Yung B, Calli B, and Anga. The venue won’t be charging to enter if you get there before midnight. There will also be an open bar running until midnight as well. Two floors allow guests to dance tension away all night and mingle between drinks. As the largest festival celebrating Brazil in NYC, thousands look forward to its return in order to enjoy the food and live musical performances. This weekend will welcome many exceptional artists and performers out for the occasion, such as the totally female Afro-Latino drum ensembles Tupi Collective and Batala New York. Those attending will enjoy the sounds of Samba and reggae. If you’re hungry there will also be an extensive line up of authentic food vendors serving up traditional dishes.
