Not into fireworks and excessive patriotism? We've got you covered.
There's something for every New Yorker to do this upcoming 4th of July weekend.
You can go the overrated route, or you can trek around the city to find the best places to watch the fireworks.
Or, you can go the indie route and head down to South Street Seaport for the Festival of Independence.
The Festival of Independence is a two-day free concert series featuring some local indie artists - Public Access TV, Porches, Wild Nothing, and Yumi Zouma to name a few.
The festival starts on Sunday, July 3rd and goes from 1 p.m to 9 p.m at the Noisey Stage on Fulton Street.
Then the party continues on on the 4th, same time, same place, different bands.

Instead of sitting on your couch watching your favorite artists perform on some fanciful rooftop, why not check out some new bands that might just tickle your fancy.
They always say live music is the best music - and what better way to get into the celebration spirit then with a free concert followed by some food and a sick view of the Macys Fireworks?
