New Yorkers know that finding a truly great sandwich is almost a rite of passage, and one of the city's most beloved names has officially expanded once again. Alidoro, the iconic Italian sandwich shop that has built a cult following since opening in SoHo in 1986, has opened the doors to its newest location at One Madison Avenue, bringing its signature panini to the Flatiron neighborhood.

Stepping inside the new 1,000-square-foot space, it's immediately clear that Alidoro hasn't strayed from the formula that has made it a New York fave. The bright, bustling shop combines the charm of a traditional Italian paninoteca with the fast-paced energy of Manhattan, where guests can watch sandwiches being assembled with meticulous attention to detail. Fresh loaves arrive daily from artisan bakery partners, meats are sliced paper-thin to order, and every ingredient is layered with precision rather than piled on for excess.
That commitment to craftsmanship is what continues to set Alidoro apart nearly 40 years after its debut. Every sandwich is built around premium imported Italian meats and cheeses, fresh vegetables, and signature house-made spreads like black garlic mustard and truffle cream, allowing each ingredient to complement the next instead of competing for attention.

The menu features 21 signature Italian sandwiches inspired by regional flavors across Italy while embracing New York creativity. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon bite, the offerings showcase the brand's philosophy that exceptional ingredients and thoughtful preparation are the true stars of every sandwich. Alidoro also serves seven breakfast sandwiches and offers catering for everything from office lunches to weddings and special events.
Under the leadership of CEO Jon Streep, Alidoro has continued to expand throughout New York City while remaining true to the quality and standards that first earned the shop a devoted following. The brand has since grown beyond its original SoHo storefront to locations including Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, Moynihan Train Hall, The Hugh, and JFK Airport, with additional openings planned at the Empire State Building, JFK Terminal 6, and the Financial District.
Whether you're already a longtime fan or discovering Alidoro for the first time, the new One Madison location makes it even easier to experience one of New York City's defining sandwich shops. After my visit, it's easy to understand why Alidoro was recognized by The New York Times as one of the "57 Sandwiches That Define NYC." The combination of carefully sourced ingredients, old-world Italian techniques, and nearly four decades of consistency proves that sometimes the classics really are worth revisiting.
Alidoro's newest location is now open at One Madison Avenue (1 Madison Ave Unit 102). The shop is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
