Friday, June 23rd

1. Governors Island

Gov. Ball isn't the only reason to board the ferry to Governors Island this year.

To celebrate the summer solstice, head over to the island to kick back and enjoy the stunning sunset views. Governors Island will be open until 10 p.m., so you can watch the sunset with some delicious eats and yummy cocktails in your hand.


2. Swedish Midsummer Festival

If you're looking to stay on the mainland for this year's summer solstice, Battery Park is your go-to party spot.

Dance around the midsummer pole with over 3,000 guests at this massive Scandinavian summer solstice celebration at Robert F. Wagner Park from 5-8 p.m. Join in on the folk-dancing to some badass fiddling or relax on the grass with a spiced herring crepe from Crepes du Nord or malt balls from FIKA to welcome summer. 3. NYC Dance Week 2017

For beginners and seasoned dancers alike, put on your dancing shoes because these classes are for you.

In order to celebrate and promote diversity in dance, nearly 40 studios around NYC are opening their doors for community classes in styles, like ballet, popping and flamenco.
