June heralds the beginning of Pride month in New York City, where pretty much all of the city's LGBT community and their supporters come out and celebrate the colorful diversity of the gay culture and lifestyle.

Culminating with the legendary Pride Parade on Sunday, June 26th, there is a veritable smorgasbord of parties and events that everyone can come take part of all month long.

Kicking off Pride month was the dazzling Get Out! Awards, an award and performance show that highlighted some of the best in LGBT and nightlife talent nationwide held at the large and legendary Boxers Sports Bar in Chelsea (37 West 20th Street).

Hosted by the fabulous drag duo Honey Davenport and Brenda Dharling, it was a night of exhilarating entertainment and well-deserved accolades.

Now in its seventh year, the Get Out! Awards bring out talent and celebrities from all across the world.

Among this year’s performance roster was Grammy winner Rob Fusari, who has worked with music stars such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, Israeli pop sensation Moses Universe and the electrifying dance-pop prince Ricky Rebel, fresh off his tour with O-Town.

The night featured the masterful spinnings of DJ Steve Sidewalk, who took home the award for Best DJ of the Year, along with DJ JRoc and video was handled by award-winning NYC-based independent music video director, photographer and producer Mikhail Torich.

All of the evening’s award winners are chosen by the fans through a month-long voting process and encompasses categories such as Best Gay Bar, Party Promoter of the Year, LGBT Blogger of the Year, Best Comedy Performer and Best Event of the Year.

Just a few of the evening's winners were Marti Gould Cummings and Ari Kiki for Best Drag Performers of the Year, Boxers Hell's Kitchen for Best Bar Staff, Albatross Bar for Best Gay Bar in Queens and, ironically, RuPaul for RuPaul's Drag Race Queen 2016.

The fans clearly know who's still top queen.

Spotted in the crowd between bouts of applause were the likes of FiFi DuBois, nightlife wunderkind Justin Luke, the golden-voiced Brielle, Jax Koyote, Bella Noche, celebrity interviewer Eileen Shapiro, Wilder Daze and Mimi Carey, who was the evening's glamorous trophy girl.

In addition to all the glittering guests, special awards were given to comedian Sandra Bernhard, philanthropist Sir Ivan, drag icon China, and renowned columnist and critic Michael Musto.

All of them received a unique engraved crystal award to commemorate their esteemed honor.

The drinks were a'flowing as Boxers kept their 2-for1 happy hour in play, which starts daily at 4 p.m. There was also food everywhere you looked, like their NYC-style Boxer’s Twink Pizza, which serves two to three and starts at $7, plus hot wings and hot dogs galore.

There was so much to see and hear at this year’s show and a few lucky guests went home with some fabulous giveaway prizes just for showing up! The Get Out! Awards definitely started off Pride month in NYC with nothing short of a glitter bomb.
