Well it's ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME. Free public Wi-Fi is finally coming to Queens!
It was a matter of time before the Millennial hotspot got some...hotspots. I mean come on, even the subways got Wi-Fi first.
The LinkNYC Kiosks are being installed throughout Long Island City and Astoria and will start beaming out free Wi-Fi next month.
The arrival of the kiosks comes a year after LinkNYC came to Manhattan. There are already 11 kiosks on Jackson Avenue between Vernon Boulevard and 44th Drive, and it's reported that more will be added on Broadway between 21st and 49th street.
Residents can also use to booths to charge their phones and tablets, access city maps, and make free phone calls.
Some Astoria residents are pumped about the technological upgrade, while others view it as yet another sign of the borough's rapid gentrification.
