These Chinatown Waffle Cone Creations Are Absolutely Insane!

It seems as if nostalgic childhood foods have been all the rage lately.

Don't believe us? Just check out the lines at Black Tap Burger & Bar for a behemoth milkshake... we're all for the milkshake lovin' but we're not so sure we'd wait 5 hours for a milkshake.

Instead, we'll be heading into Chinatown for the tastiest frozen dairy craze since the Black Tap milkshake: an Eggloo ice cream stuffed egg waffle.

What's an egg waffle? It's a street snack originating in Hong Kong made with a fluffy waffle in the shape of bubbles. The waffles are made fresh to order using a bubble indented waffle mold.

The egg waffles at Eggloo come in three flavors: traditional, matcha, or chocolate, though one of the co-founders, Mike Tan, tells AM New York that they plan on expanding their flavor options.

"We're planning to experiment a lot more," Tan told AM New York, with nods to a Chinese sausage savory egg waffle and a pizza-stuffed waffle.

Tan, along with friends David Lin and Jessica Tam (who works at Momofuku as a wedding cake specialist), have already been a hit on social media through the sales of their egg waffles at festivals and street fairs, particularly due to their Instagram-ability.

Not only are the egg waffles delicious, but they come decorated with unique toppings. For $8, you can have your own waffle griddled to order, filled with one of their three homemade ice creams, and topped with two colorful, flavorful toppings.

Though Eggloo was open in celebration of the Chinese New Year on Monday, their grand opening of their brick and mortar shop (61 Mulberry Street) is this Saturday, February 13.
