Beyond the fact that 25 Days of Christmas will officially commence this Friday (December), there is also much else to look forward to. Things that involve summoning the courage to leave the warm comfort of your home.

But trust us, it'll be worth it. From holiday festive to Trap Music Brunches, these are all the wintery-fresh events happening this weekend! 

Friday, December 1st

1. Tree Lighting Skate-tacular @ Bryant Park Rink (6 p.m.)

It seems that we've already gotten a head start on getting into the holiday spirit (as usual). But if you're already dreaming of a White Christmas, be a part of the tree lighting tradition at Bryant Park this Friday night!

This is one of those very touristy, traditional things that we'll bet tons of New Yorkers actually haven't yet gotten around to. So maybe it's your year to get in on the action.

2. First Fridays! StorySLAM in Collab with The Moth  @ The Bronx Museum (6 p.m.)

If you've yet to experience the NYC-famous, Moth StorySLAM, you may want to head over to 1040 Grand Concourse this Friday. Whether you're a writer yourself, looking to observe, or feeling randomly creative, you can participate or simply enjoy the show.

If you're unfamiliar with the event, it's an awesome and exciting collaboration of storytellers telling true stories to a live audience. In this edition, The Bronx Museum is working with The Moth to bring their own rendition to the stage. Reserve tickets by emailing info@bronxmuseum.org.

Saturday, December 2nd

3. Heated Winter Wonderland Beer Garden @ Loreley Beer Garden (Weekend-Long)

We're just glad that our outdoor hangouts won't fizzle out completely with the winter season. Now we can throw on our winter-wear and enjoy some drinks at the beer garden without freezing our a**es off.

Open all day from 12 p.m. onward, this shindig offers craft beers, wine, and seasonal, festive cocktails. Plus it's free admission! For once you don't need to roll your eyes over an annoying cover. Check it out at 7 Rivington Street on the Lower East Side.

4. Slim Cinema Vertical Film Festival @ 350 Moffat Street, Brooklyn (8 p.m.-2 a.m.)

This is a totally unique film festival focused on presenting work from our most familiar, everyday medium; mobile phones (hence the "vertical"). Filmmakers and storytellers collaborate to showcase a wide variety of work, an art they feel should all be able to "fit in your pocket."

5. Native Art Market @ George Gustav Heye Center (Weekend-Long)

The Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian is bringing us this exciting, eclectic market this weekend at the George Gustav Heye Center. The event will showcase a massive variety of native goods with everything from food vendors to handcrafted jewelry. 

Free admission, too! Find it the museum downtown at 1 Bowling Green in Manhattan.

6. Downtown Abbey Soiree218 West 57th Street (8 p.m.)

This sure is neat. You can attend this 1910's era, Downtown Abbey-themed extravaganza! Dress the part, enjoy some themed cocktails, delicious food, and pretend for a bit that you're living in a decade more suited for your level of class.

We're all suckers for a good brunch hangout sesh every now and then so why not mix it up a bit with this very intriguing mashup of brunch, trap music, and Caribbean cuisine? Or have you been to this kind of jam before? In that case, you're far too cool for us.

8. Dandelion Chocolate NYC Pop-Up Cafe @ 180 9th Avenue (Ends December 3rd)

This is an exclusive, irresistible event you will not want to miss out on. The California-based chocolate factory Dandelion Chocolate is hosting a pop-up shop in NYC this week, and we're looking to lend some solid shopping support in the hopes that MAYBE they'll make that official move here? Just a thought.

In promotion of their new book, the cafe will be serving up delicious chocolate treats from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. all weekend long until its official end this Sunday.

9. Renegade Craft Fair @ Industry City Factory Floor (Weekend-long)

Fun fact: Renegade Craft Fair is the world's largest showcase of independent craft and design. High-quality goods by up-and-coming craftsman and artists of all trades. It's bringing the community together and supporting new products. 

The event is coming to NYC  exclusively for three weekends, kicking off this Saturday @ 274 36th Street, Brooklyn from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

10. Forward Union Fair 2017 @ 714 Broadway, Manhattan (Weekend-long)

This unique and inspiring event calls for a collaboration between various organizations working for social change. The idea is to connect artists and creative work, with the objectives of these organizations to create powerful and captivating messages for people to observe and identify with.
