Drink in the New Year: 8 Best Bars to Drink at If You're in NYC for New Year's Eve

Any New Yorker knows that New Year’s Eve is the holiday with the widest range of potential. You can end up having the night of your life, or it can be a disaster never to be spoken of again except in below-the-belt insults from eyewitnesses.

However, a huge factor to how your night goes is where you decide to ring in the New Year in NYC.

For those not wanting to party at home and brave the soon-to-be-fresh 2016 streets for the big night, here are some suggestions where you can stand the best chance for an awesome night.

1. Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street)

ihateraquelreed GUESS WHO is hosting @websterhall 's NYE ball drop? Eeeeee!!!!!! Kind of shitting myself right now 😬 🎉don't snooze get your tickets now!!!! www.websterhall.com #raquelreed #websterhall #nye

A New Year’s adventure unlike many others, Webster Hall boasts one of the biggest and one of the most talked about New Years nightlife parties in the city. Six unique dance floors host eight top DJs and an open bar from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. will have the good times rolling early.

Webster Hall is also responsible for one of the biggest balloon drops in the country, with over 100,000 colorful balloons unleashed when the ball drops, broadcasted live from one of their massive screens. The space is also full of physic-defying performers and visual displays, further invigorating the senses.

Their New Year's Eve Ball is going to be absolutely amazing, so make sure you get your tickets here

2. Little Branch (20 7th Avenue South)

Just because you go out on New Year’s Eve doesn’t mean you want to be crushed by the crowds. A good bet to avoid all of that is down in the West Village, a dimly lit cocktail mecca that you wouldn’t know was there otherwise.

A lone bouncer stands in front of a plain metal door looking at IDs and ushering people down a flight of industrial steps. But once inside, this craft cocktail grotto will do more than provide unique libations for a night free from the run-of-the-mill NYE revelry.

3. Videology (308 Bedford Avenue - Brooklyn)

videologybarandcinema Last night of the #NorthsideFest (film portion).

This neighborhood staple is hosting its hopefully annual Purple Rain Dance Party in a decades-themed party like Williamsburg has yet to see, with 80’s-appropriate attire highly encouraged, though not mandatory.

The blowout will feature the classic Prince film Purple Rain projected on a visual loop throughout the night while the biggest hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s play as a backdrop. With only a $5 cover, you have extra to splurge on a great costume.

4. Shadowboxers (215 West 40th Street)

A free Absolut bar runs for an hour starting at 10 p.m. and gives way to live Times Square feeds on massive screens over their two separate dance floors. With NYE party gear give-outs galore and a widely eclectic crowd, you’ll ring in the New Year feeling full of festivity and fun.

Howl at the Moon is getting down in style. Of course, they're getting down by giving away some absurd free parties for spoiled NYC readers, but they're pulling out all the stops for New Year's Eve.

For New Year's Eve they're offering a variety of packages that range anywhere from an open bar to simple party favors and, of course, a midnight champagne toast. If you're looking for a good time in Midtown this New Year's Eve, Howl at the Moon is the move. Check out their party packages here

The perfect balance of high-octane party and safeguard from the city culminates in Elmhurst. Oh, it comes with pool cues, too. A live DJ spins a spicy mix of salsa, reggae, hip-hop, meringue and Top-40’s while dancers spin on an impressive dance floor.

The cocktails here are also known to have heavy-handed pours, so whether you’re going for the drink-by-drink option to keep your inner pool shark sharp, or you’re all in for the five-hour open bar option, New Year’s here will be a night you’ll try not to forget.
