Any New Yorker knows that New Year’s Eve is the holiday with the widest range of potential. You can end up having the night of your life, or it can be a disaster never to be spoken of again except in below-the-belt insults from eyewitnesses.

1. Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street)

A New Year’s adventure unlike many others, Webster Hall boasts one of the biggest and one of the most talked about New Years nightlife parties in the city. Six unique dance floors host eight top DJs and an open bar from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. will have the good times rolling early.

Webster Hall is also responsible for one of the biggest balloon drops in the country, with over 100,000 colorful balloons unleashed when the ball drops, broadcasted live from one of their massive screens. 2. Little Branch (20 7th Avenue South)

Just because you go out on New Year’s Eve doesn’t mean you want to be crushed by the crowds. A good bet to avoid all of that is down in the West Village, a dimly lit cocktail mecca that you wouldn’t know was there otherwise.

A lone bouncer stands in front of a plain metal door looking at IDs and ushering people down a flight of industrial steps. But once inside, this craft cocktail grotto will do more than provide unique libations for a night free from the run-of-the-mill NYE revelry.

3. Videology (308 Bedford Avenue - Brooklyn)

This neighborhood staple is hosting its hopefully annual Purple Rain Dance Party in a decades-themed party like Williamsburg has yet to see, with 80’s-appropriate attire highly encouraged, though not mandatory.

The blowout will feature the classic Prince film Purple Rain projected on a visual loop throughout the night while the biggest hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s play as a backdrop. With only a $5 cover, you have extra to splurge on a great costume.

4. Shadowboxers (215 West 40th Street)

Depending on how daring you are, you can hunker down dangerously close to the Times Square insanity yet feel like you’re nowhere near it. The entire street is closed off exclusively to those who bought tickets to their New Year’s 2K16 nightclub bash.
