Red roses. Oversized teddy bears. Pink and red, everywhere. Whether you love it or hate it, even if for only this year, Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. 

If you’re on Team Single 2016, it’s very tempting to just hibernate the whole day and pretend it never happened.

But an encouraging thought, at least it's almost guaranteed that anyone “single” you meet going out on Valentine's Day night is legitimately single!

So put down that box of Godiva, pick out a slammin' outfit and face the holiday head-on! 

Here are some of the top spots to go if you’re looking to fill your punch card this Sunday, or simply escape the hordes of twitterpated fools.

1. Katch Astoria (31-19 Newtown Avenue - Queens)

Notoriously named “Best Singles Spot” in all the borough, Katch is a surprisingly chic and sprawling sports lounge and grill, not to mention a beer garden with its own brewery. There's also literally a flat-screen TV anywhere you look. So if your game is on, it's probably playing at Katch.

Aside from their quality bar food and respectable cocktails, this Valentine’s Day they’re hosting a free V-Day Speed Dating party for anyone who hasn’t yet given up on love. Get there early though. The party is hosted by Queen of Astoria Ashley Dean and pops off at 7 p.m.

2. The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club (514 Union Street - Brooklyn)

No matter if you’re dreading the day or love it to bits, there is one aspect of Valentine’s Day that most everyone can agree is a good thing. That’s right. Chocolate. And you’ll find heaps of it down in Gowanus at The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club.

This 17,000-square-foot adult playground is hosting the Brooklyn Chocolate Takedown on the 14th, a smorgasbord of cocoa morsels and sweet treats that will be served from 20 different chefs. Make sure you also grab one of their colorful Floridian-style cocktails, complete with tropical umbrella.

3. Slake (251 West 30th Street)

If you’re really looking to black-out Valentine’s Day, look no further than Endless Night: New York Vampire Ball being held at Slake in Midtown. This annual party is, as you might have guessed, a den full of the real hardcore “anti-Valentiners.”

But this extravagant soiree isn’t for the run-of-the-mill partygoer. Soul-grabbing light displays and special effects line the bars and the drink of the night is, of course, absinthe. If you’re going to show up, it should be noted there’s a slight dress code to attend. You get three guesses of what it entails.

4. Hudson Station (440 9th Avenue)

For guys who are looking for their Prince Charming or just to make a new friend, head over to Hudson Station, a rustic Hell's Kitchen gastropub boasting both innovative bites and a creative cocktail menu to match. Their beer list is pretty dope, too.

The bar’s Gay Valentine’s Day Singles Mixer on the 14th is designed for single guys in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s with drink specials and complementary appetizers from 6-7 p.m. Ice breaker games and prizes are handed out through the night, so man up and mingle!

5. Littlefield (622 DeGraw Street - Brooklyn)

Nestled on a quiet street in Brooklyn sits Littlefield, an eco-friendly establishment running on wind power that serves up its old-fashioned cocktails from a bar that was built from old bowling alley lanes. Needless to say, the place has personality.

Join another personality, comic Jon Freidman, at his newest endeavor The Rejection Show: Valentine’s Day Heartbreak Haven, an ode to all that love has kicked in the… well, wherever it would hurt the most. With his team of fellow comedians, you just might find love is actually a laughing matter after all.

6. Experimental Cocktail Club (191 Chrystie Street)

One of the biggest benefits to not having someone on Valentine’s Day is not having to worry about spending your money on making them feel special. So treat yo’self! Down on the Lower East Side sits a place that will help take you away from it all, even if only in ambiance.

The Parisian style of the Experimental Cocktail Club, complete with fireplaces, pressed-tin ceilings and live jazz, reflects a zen-like French charm, which provides an escape for all the senses, including your romantic whims. Try their signature namesake drink, the ECC, a spicy twist on the classic Negroni.

7. Hudson Terrace (621 West 46th Street)

This Valentine's Day party may be called XOXO, but this is anything but a cute couples mixer. Despite that it's geared more towards the gay circuit community, this 11 p.m. fete welcomes anyone who wants to come in, let it all go and dance the night away.

Although not required, these Alegria parties are known to attract guests who don seriously elaborate costumes. Take in the spectacle surrounded by jaw-dropping effects, laser lights and wild times that would rival Studio 54’s heydays. Word to the wise: come with a best friend, not your boyfriend.
