Grab food, a new accessory or a brew at one of these awesome events this weekend! The summer hasn’t slipped away entirely and these fairs, concerts, and pop-ups are the epitome of good vibes. If you’re into eating a bunch of different things in one sitting, Friday’s TIMEOUT Market or the Brooklyn Food Fest is for you.

Those interested in some brews or serious gaming can hit up Saturday’s scheduling because Beers Without Beards is selling tickets for tastings and grub while Play NYC is opening doors to their monumental gaming convention. Sunday allows us to investigate and chill with a delightful festival, concert or shopping pop-up to visit!

Friday, August 9th

Afropolitan NYC (59 West 21st Street, Manhattan @ 6 PM)

Travel without leaving NYC because the culture, politics, history, and energy will come to you! The Afropolitan mixer invites Afro-Caribbeans to indulge in a night of comfort and connection to authentic sounds, flavors, and goods. The event welcomes everyone to experience the sense of community and exchange stories while eating traditional food, listening to afro-beats and sipping cocktails.

Brooklyn Food & Fitness Fest (Dr. Ronald McNair Park, Brooklyn @ 11 AM)

This might seem like a strange combo but that’s only if you're imagining someone doing burpees with a slice of pizza in hand! Not what we mean here. The re-branded event from the Haitian-American Community Coalition is focused on connecting visitors to brands and businesses that can help them build stronger more informed health practices. Wellness vendors for food, local organizations, beauty, fitness, fashion and more will be included in this year’s lineup.

Birdland Jazz ( 315 W 44th St Suite 5402, Manhattan @ 5:30 PM)

Does someone request live music and a full bar? Enjoy jazz, funk. Brazilian and Latin music at the Birdland Jazz concert series this weekend. The Birdland Big Band returns for two headlining weeks each year, setting the bar for performers and musicians with their seniority and classic sound.

Saturday, August 10th

Beers Without Beards ( 272 Meserole Street, Brooklyn @ 12 PM)

Around 20 women-owned breweries are showing up for the Hop Culture + Yakima Chief Hops event Beers With(out) Beards Fest! The day is going to be centered on tastings of new seasonal and regular blends, mingling and chowing. In order to celebrate women in the beer industry, the event focuses on businesses run by or owned by women. There will also be music to set the mood thanks to Rimarkable.

Play NYC (125 West 18th Street, Manhattan @ 10 AM)

Our prayers were answered and the Play NYC gaming convention is returning for their 3rd year! Although it’s just starting out as an annual event, it’s already garnering returning attendance from fans of VR, PC, board, card and video gaming. The event features game demos, exclusive access to unreleased products, new tech, competitions, giveaways and data collection for products still in progress. Those who attend can expect enough games to go around for the duration of their time slot, free merch, and mingling.

TIMEOUT Market (55 Water Street, Brooklyn @ 8AM)

The market opens up early morning to supply breakfast goodies and runs throughout the day to take hungry visitors through lunch and dinner. The scenic balcony, waterfront views, and plush interior allow diners to comfortably enjoy the bites and sips they purchase at their own pace. Over 20 different vendors serve up their best for foodies, dishes like Neapolitan pies, tomato bouillabaisse, salmon sashimi, soy beef, michelin star ramen and much more.

Sunday, August 11th

Giglio Di Sant' Antonio Festival (448 East 116th Street, Manhattan @ 12 PM)

Although this Italian festival spans across the whole weekend, Sunday’s all about the moves. The Giglio will be danced throughout the streets the entire day. The 80 foot and 4-ton statue will also hold the Giglio band and Danny Vecchiano as they provide music alongside the Gifted Tenor & Society Member Jimmy Alleva. The events honor the immigrants from the Italian town of Brusciano

The Lot Radio Presents: Summer of Lot (368 36th Street, Brooklyn @ 12 PM)

Open sky, fresh air, good food, and live performances make this music event special. Listen to upcoming local talent as well as established acts from genres like rock, soul, electronica, jazz, and others in a large space decorated for a casual yet upscale experience. Food vendors serving pizza, burgers, BBQ, tacos and more will be on the scene to complement your outdoor concert experience.
