Governors Ball 2016 ended a lot sooner than we'd hoped.
Rain took some people out of the funk yesterday evening, and while thousands of others stuck around to see The Killers straight murder the GOVBALLNYC Stage last night, the weather today, and the threat of thunder and lightning this evening, proved to be too unsafe for anybody to head to Randall's Island.
So, no CHVRCHES, no Vince Staples, no FIDLAR, no Cold War Kids, no Kanye.
But fear not! There are a few bands playing secret shows in New York City tonight!
In addition to Vic Mensa, Courtney Barnett, and Two Door Cinema Club, the "special guest" (announced yesterday afternoon as Prophets of Rage) will also be throwing down!
If you're as disappointed as we are, check out the bands out and about in NYC tonight. People with Gov Ball passes get special discounts at some venues, and others have even had artists shelling out dough for tickets themselves!
Check it out. Get out there!
1. Prophets of Rage @ Warsaw (261 Briggs Avenue - Brooklyn)
Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Proceeds go to Why hunger.
2. Vic Mensa @ Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street)
Doors open at 9:00 p.m. Wouldn't be a bad idea to peep this spot if you're dying for a potential Yeezy sighting.
3. Whilk & Misky
Read the caption. They were rumored to play, but they weren't able to find a venue in the last minute. DRATS!
Fear not. They're coming back to NYC the 14th at Baby's All Right. Get tickets here!
4. Courtney Barnett @ Rough Trade (64 North 9th Street - Brooklyn)
Free show! Doors open at 8:30 p.m.!
5. Two Door Cinema Club @ Williamsburg Music Hall (66 North 6th Street - Brooklyn)
Skoooooooo! Get out to Williamsburg Music Hall STAT!
Box office opened at 6 p.m., but the doors open at 8!
