These days, Airbnb is causing a ruckus in New York City.
Once it was released that there are over a hundred New Yorkers illegally making over $100,000/year as "professional tenants," or people who rent units just to sublet them on Airbnb, landlords are striking back.
They're not always successful, like in the case of the Queens landlord who failed at evicting his tenants who illegally converted their three bedroom into a ten bedroom, specifically for tourists on Airbnb.
Now, if you're stuck in a lease, you don't have to revert to Airbnb and break the law renting your place out on the web. You don't even have to find a sublet. You can just use a new app called Flip.
The deal with Flip is simple. You can actually buy and sell leases.
After a one-time $50 fee, users are pre-qualified for transactions via Flip with a confirmed report on the user's proof of credit, income history, rental history and even education history.
Once the leaseholder and potential renter are matched, this app lets you handle the rest.
In a way, it's the most legit possible version of a prescreened Craigslist. Leaseholders can set a price for taking over the remaining months on a lease.

If you're that desperate to get out of your current place, you can even pay someone to pick up your lease-- using built-in money sharing app Venmo, if you so choose.
On the app, there are even listings with images and prices. Once a user has the Flip report, he or she is updated with potential leases that match the desired financial situation.
Easy peasy, amirite?
