This year, New York City has erupted with more light displays than ever before. Exaggeration? Possibly, but who can say?
The gorgeous homes out in Dyker Heights and other outer borough neighborhoods have donned their holiday light arrays, and light-up interactive light art installations are all over the place-- not to mention the Rockefeller Center tree.
But some bros in Williamsburg have devised their own light display-- a six foot tall penis in the window of a luxury penthouse at 65 Ainslie Street-- and it's really pissing people off.
For many, it's just a laugh, like, "Oh look! There's a giant schlong in the sky!" But for people with young kids, it's not so funny.
One of the tenants of the unit stated that his roommate, neither of whom will share their names, erected the light display as a joke last weekend.
When asked about families in the neighborhood, he responded, "It hasn't come up. I haven't thought about it."
Hasn't come up? Bro, it's been six feet up for about a week and you never thought about that?
This is, in many ways, a reflection of the disjunction between people inhabiting the same neighborhood. One local woman commented that it's typical of the "frat boy mentality" and of the "douche bags that moved into the neighborhood."
It seems the line has been crossed for many, like 28-year old Justin Abenchuchan, who considers the display, "Rude and vulgar," and "definitely wildly inappropriate." But Abenchuchan admitted he'd be sharing the photo he took with all his friends.

So, even some people who don't like it recognize the silliness. When all is said and done, what's really so upsetting about a penis? Many New Yorkers have one they spend an inordinate amount of time photographing, and even more New Yorkers act like one every day...
It's up to the public to decide what the guy behind the d*ckmas lights is compensating for. Maybe all they want for Christmas is the D? The truth may come to light, but until then, take it sleazy, Williamsburg.
