We get it. New York City is expensive as hell. 

Nothing about that is ever going to change, so we have to be smart about how we spend our money and how exactly we spend our money. 

We already have so many different ways of paying for things: there's the Venmo app for your phone; cold, hard cash; gift cards you either asked for, or reluctantly accepted as birthday or holiday gifts; credit cards you forget to pay off; and then the debit card you've definitely over-drafted with. 

But we've all been places we never want to return to: the dreaded "DECLINED" pops up on the screen because we accidentally slipped the wrong card across the counter, we left our wallet at home or at the restaurant, or, worse, our wallets have broken simply because there's too much going on in there.

Coin is a pretty nifty way of solving just about all of that. 

It's basically the one card to rule them all. It's the same size as a credit card, but instead of adding more to the folds of your wallet, it lets you synch up all of your other card data onto this one.

You can hold up to 8 different credit, membership passes, and gift cards on Coin, and with the tap of a button on the back of the card, you can cycle through them when you're paying.

It also has some pretty extensive security measures to protect you from both pickpockets and yourself. In using your phone to set up, switch out, or update your preferred cards, your phone also tracks both where you last used your card, and where the card currently is. 

So if you've misplaced your wallet or debit card, as long as the cards are already programmed into Coin, nobody can use it unless they're, well... you. 

This means you don't have to immediately call in and cancel the card if you feel like you've lost it, which, if you've ever had to call up the bank your card is tied to, you know is absolute hell.

Basically, Coin is the only card you need to carry (unless you have way more than 8 cards you carry at all times, in which case... why?) aside from your MTA card, of course. 

While everybody else seems focused on making sure that you can use your phone for everything, it felt like nobody was really working on lightening the load we already carry every day. But now, someone's finally figured out how to put all of the cards we need in one place.
