If you're anything like us, you probably discuss which transportation hub in New York City is worse: Port Authority or Penn Station. Let's just concede to the fact that they both suck.
But Port Authority is about to suck a little less. It might even become-- dare we say it... decent?
The hope is that Port Authority will become a "world class facility" with new improvements, starting with the addition of a food court built by OHM Concession Group.
OHM plans to develop a food court with three very different, high-quality dining options for travelers.
Because this is NYC, OHM will be paying a mere $15.2 million lease over a period of ten years. That makes our rent seem like a joke, right?
The addition of this food court will begin with construction near the main ticketing plaza in February.
Other upcoming changes to Port Authority include additional cell phone service, Wi-Fi, and new restrooms.
If you've ever had the misfortune of requiring the use of the current restrooms, you'll understand how welcome that news is. Suffice it to say they're worse than Penn Station's, and if you can't imagine that, imagine something worse than those of a frat house.

All of these changes are a part of the "Quality of Commute" program, that will cost $90 million.
However, the board of Port Authority has plans to replace the whole building of Port Authority with a space worth between $7-10 billion. Chump change.
