A lot of people love using the New York City subway as the setting for their art.
We're big fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' usage of our subterranean tunnels. Not to mention awesome stuff like @underground_nyc on Instagram.
Usually subway-themed things illustrate the rough-and-tumble aspects of traveling underground. The subway is crowded, dirty, dangerous, and it's falling apart in some places.
Recently a team of filmmakers from Michigan called Snowday came down to the City to shoot a short film that travels the subways, showing 100 stations in two minutes.
Some portions of the short are obviously scripted, but the majority of the video seems to be candid. And with just a few seconds for each station, the viewer is really absorbing snapshots of places rather than "getting to know" them.
Take a look at the video below. Does it really capture the NYC subway as we know it, or is this an outsider's perspective?
