So, there are a ton of bars in Brooklyn, and they are pretty much all underrated. That’s like the whole point of Brooklyn and hipsters, isn't it?
Things are only cool in the land of the hipsters if they are underrated, so there is an inherent problem with the idea here because we simply can’t list all of the bars in Brooklyn.
It’s just not possible.
Also, as soon as you put an underrated bar onto a list like this, it almost immediately loses its cool factor as far as far as the hipsters are concerned.
This isn't for them, though. This is a list of a bunch of super tight Brooklyn bars that even the hipsters can't ruin for you. We just hope they don’t immediately lose all of their super hip customers because of it.
1. Bootleg Bar (1438 Myrtle Avenue)
People say this bar is super sketchy, and we understand why. If you’re walking down Myrtle Avenue and see this bar from across the street, chances are you won’t go in because it looks like murders happen there. However, this bar is actually dope.
The drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is endearing. Also, the bartenders are super cool and occasionally hook you up with free shots. Lastly, they have pool, but there’s only one table, so get there early if you want to play pool.
2. Old Stanley’s (226 Wyckoff Avenue)
This bar, like many of the other bars in Brooklyn, is super unassuming. The sign doesn’t even say Old Stanley’s. It just says "Bar". They have darts, good beer, and cheap bar food (hot dogs, pretzels, etc.).
The bartenders are all super chill and it’s never too crowded. It’s just a sweet neighborhood bar. The best part is that they have Big Buck Hunter. The only drawback is that it’s cash only, but the ATM only charges like a buck, so it’s not that bad.
3. The Rookery (425 Troutman Street)
This bar has a great beer selection, and if you wait late enough (after 11 p.m., but it depends on the night) you can get a three-dollar cheeseburger.
This spot usually has a pretty decent size crowd, but it’s never really too crowded. You can always walk around without getting a beer spilled down your shirt and the line for the bathroom is never more than two deep. Also, this is a dope brunch spot.
4. Heavy Woods (50 Wyckoff Avenue)
This is one of the best bars in Brooklyn. Three-dollar Miller High Life’s?! Three dollars for the godforsaken champagne of beers?! As far as we’re concerned, that’s reason enough to get a spot on this list.
But just in case that wasn’t enough of a reason to entice you, this bar also has some of the best Cajun food in the city. The chef is from New Orleans, and his food is off the chain.
Did you know that Cajun food is the only cuisine that is based solely from America? Pretty sure that means Heavy Woods is the most American bar in NYC.
,5. Lady Jay’s (633 Grand Street)
We’ve heard some bad things about this bar, and it might just be because it’s in Williamsburg and that crowd might not totally dig this spot, but it is actually super chill.
The outdoor area is huge and the jukebox has a super sick selection. Also, we’ve heard that some of the bartenders are dicks, but we’ve never had that experience there.
6. Black Rabbit (91 Greenpoint Avenue)

This is one of the most chill bars in Brooklyn. Some people say it’s awesome, but some people say it sucks. Luckily, we’re here to dispel the rumors because this bar is mad tight.
Their trivia night is on point and they have Jenga. Playing Jenga is one of the best drunk activities. In fact, it is the quintessential drunk activity.
The food is good too, and the drink selection is extensive. Overall, we’d suggest chilling at this bar as often as possible.
7. The Habitat (988 Manhattan Avenue)

This bar has sick deals like every week night. On Monday’s you can get mac and cheese for five bucks which might be our favorite deal not only in Brooklyn, but in America.
Seriously, this place is mad tight. Some people say the service is weak and it gets too crowded, but it is totally worth it for the theme nights.
