That's it. No matter how many jokes New Yorkers have made the past few decades about how we all live in overpriced closets, there are now "micro" apartments that essentially take that joke a little too far.

They're 302 square feet, they cost $2,750 a month, and 60,000 people applied to live in the market-rate micro units that popped up in the development called Carmel Place

Now that the winning design for a building featuring apartments smaller than 400 square feet is almost fully realized, there is now a tour video so you can see just how economical (read: tiny) these spaces are.

It might appear to be a strange phenomenon in the real estate market, but consider that on the opposite side of the spectrum NYC keeps putting up super tall luxury lofts marketed towards... well, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it.

Nevertheless, countless people are very excited about the building that's part of a world wide trend to minimize the living space people require in urban settings.

The silver lining is that despite the size of the apartments, the rates aren't too outlandish, even for Manhattan's real estate market.

There are affordable units going for around $950 per month, and market-rate units going for $2,750. Take a look inside these brand new Manhattan apartments below.
