To those who are wistfully yearning for snow, we've got bad news for you: you might not get that white Christmas you've been dreaming about.
You're probably not that surprised to hear that. We had a pretty tame November, and some of us have been wondering whether we'd even have a winter at all this year.
However, now, it's official. AccuWeather's U.S. Winter Forecast for 2015-16 was just released, and it looks it might be about time for all you snow haters out there to count your lucky stars.
Of course, this happy forecast is at direct odds with what the Farmer's Almanac predicted back in August, but we think we should believe the people who give us better news, right?
So, we're prone to trust AccuWeather when they say the winter will "kick off with mild weather," thanks to that old El Niño everyone keeps talking about.
According to Carl Erickson, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, we've got much more to worry about in the rain department than snow this winter.
"The El Niño is good for us if you don't like snow and you like mild winters," Erickson said. "But we're still anticipating above-average precipitation, it's just more likely it will be in the form of some rain events - especially in the early parts of the year."
New Yorkers, let us ask you this really tough question: would you prefer a ton of rain, or a ton of snow?
As for us, we're not sure. Snow can be really pretty, but rain is a whole lot less cold.

If you love going upstate to ski, don't panic. Erickson said AccuWeather is still predicting "above average" snowfall for the New York region, and above-average accumulation in the mountains of New England.
So if you've been pondering the purchase of an expensive new pair of snow boots, we'd advise you to hold off. Maybe you can better spend your money participating in all of NYC's insane winter activities, or maybe you should just by a good looking pair of rain boots instead.
