Rats are a part of reality in New York City. No matter where you go, you can't get away from them.

There are lots of contributing factors as to why we have such a City-wide infestation-- like, too much garbage on the streets --but even the cleanest neighborhoods boasting the highest rents have rats.

It doesn't matter if you're on Billionaire's Row or out at Coney Island, if you go outside or underground in NYC, there will be rats.

Yes, we had our brief love affair with the Pizza Rat. At least one person got a Pizza Rat tattoo. There was even a "sexy" Pizza Rat Halloween costume.

One prankster even put together a fake pizza rat attached to the chassis of a remote controlled car and drove it through the streets-- both exciting those who thought they caught a glimpse of the famous rodent, and freaking out others who don't want anything to do with rats, pizza or not.

But new data is in, and 2015's Most Ratty 'Hood award goes to the Lower East Side!

Yes, Community District 3, or East Village, LES, and Chinatown has the worst rat problem this year, and that can't be a surprise to anyone.

Even if it didn't have the most rats in the past, LES has always had the biggest ones in the City. They thrive on the dumplings people that don't know how to use chopsticks drop in the street.

But really, the Department of Health determines which neighborhood has the biggest rat problem every year, judging by holes, teethmarks, droppings and fresh tracks.

Perhaps one day, the City will find a decent exterminator and we won't have this problem anymore. Until then, watch your feet on the LES; chances are higher there that you're standing on a rat, or a rat's standing on you. They don't give a f*ck.
