Have you heard about a series of amazing 8-bit mosaics going up all over the city by a French artist who goes by the name of Invader?
Well, if you haven’t... be prepared to see his “urban acupuncture” installations, as they officially invaded the streets of New York City.
One of the incredible things about NYC is that we always stumble upon amazing creative artists, even when they choose to remain incognito.
And despite carefully protecting his identity, Invader has managed to have his work seen in more than 65 cities in 33 countries.
Invader draws inspiration from classic 8-bit video games such as his namesake, Space Invaders. His distinctive colorful tiles and model pixelations take form of different iconic figures and characters.
The sites for his artwork are not at all random they are actually researched and chosen strategically in order to reveal some local aesthetic or conceptual symbolism.
