If you haven't seen it by now, you probably live under a rock. 

If you have seen it, you probably had your internet broken, your computer burnt to the ground, and your love for Amy Schumer and Serena Williams completely reaffirmed.

For the last 50 years, the Italian tire-maker Pirelli has released an annual calendar full of exactly what you'd expect to see in a calendar: photos of supermodels either clad in lingerie or naked.

This year, they decided to depart from photographing women for photography's sake.

Instead, they're showcasing images of women, all of whom are stars in art, business, sports, and philanthropy. 

Photographer Annie Leibovitz shot these masterpieces, and the only women appearing in partial nudity are Amy Schumer and Serena Williams.

Singer-songwriter, poet, and visual artist Patti Smith is also featured in the calendar, as are Chinese actress Yao Chen, author Fran Lebowitz, Yoko Ono, Iranian artist Shirin Neshat, Tavi Gevinson and Ava DuVernay.

"For 2016, we did something completely different, but it is still simple. It is a classic set of black-and-white portraits made in the studio," Leibovitz said. "When Pirelli approached me, they said they wanted to make a departure from the past. They suggested the idea of photographing distinguished women."

We think this calendar is a triumph, a hardly believable victory in the battle for gender equality. We still have a long climb; we'd love to bridge the pay gap and equalize job opportunities, but for now being recognized for our merit rather than our appearance in a high-profile calendar is a huge step.

"The goal was to be very straightforward," Leibovitz said. "I wanted the pictures to show the women exactly as they are, with no pretense."

There's also another departure with this year's calendar compared to years past. The calendar isn't for sale. Instead, it'll be given as a gift to 20,000 VIPs, musicians, politicians, and royalty.

Amy Schumer posted her photograph to her Instagram account with the caption, "Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless woman. Thank You Annie Leibovitz!"

Schumer is clad in lingerie and heels-- the joke being that she wasn't "in" on Pirelli's departure from lingerie-clad super models, but we think this picture represents exactly what Leibovitz hoped it would; exactly who Schumer is, with no pretense.

She displays to women everywhere exactly what it looks like to be fearless, unapologetic, and successful at all the same time. 

Amy Schumer has illustrated that it's not only okay, but that it's very striking and empowering to love a very human body. Of course, she looks beautiful, but that's not the point. She's not photoshopped, excessively thin, nor fulfilling an impossible ideal.

She's real.

Of course, we feel the exact same way about Serena Williams who's similarly demonstrated time and again the power women can harness, the dreams that can be achieved, and the hard work we deserve to put in for ourselves.

To Schumer and Williams, as we've said before and as we'll say again: rock on. To every woman out there watching, we're ready. 

We're all ready to follow in their example, and love ourselves exactly as we are.
