Emojis are great. There's nothing better to add a little tongue-in-cheekiness to your text messages, statuses, or like, anything you can add an emoji to.

Creatively stringing together a series of emojis to make a pictographic point is one of the best new past times people engage in while using their devices. 

A new study has revealed which food emoji is used most in each state. Can you guess which one New Yorkers use the most?

Clearly, it's the eggplant. Can you really blame us? It's the best one.

The data comes from the SwiftKey blog, which has assembled nationwide data on emoji usage before, but this time around they focused on just food emoji usage because of Thanksgiving.

Some states' emoji usage is perfectly logical. Hawaii, for example, uses the pineapple more than any other emoji, Iowa uses corn a lot, and the home state of Starbucks, Washington, uses the cup of coffee most often.

But other states' most commonly used emojis make no sense. Take Georgia; their most commonly used emoji is the bunch of cherries. Cherries, Georgia? We had you pegged for a peach state through and through. 

Of course, New York is not alone in keeping the eggplant emoji in heavy rotation. 

Based on the data, it's probably in the recently used section on iPhones across Louisiana, Alabama, Nevada, Arkansas, and South Carolina as well.
