The New York City pizza game is weak without Di Fara Pizza, and simply put, we're in love with it. 

We love the way it tastes, the way it looks, the way it smells, the way you have to wait in the long lines just to get a pie, the way it tastes so good you forget how long you actually had to stand in line before you could take a bite.

Maybe we have selective memory when it comes to the food that we love, but hell, who cares? Again, it's Di Fara. It's a pizza institution in a town that's got a lot of it. 

Like many who feel the crave for Chick-Fil-A more on a Sunday when it's closed, we crave Di Fara's legendary pizzas even more on Mondays and Tuesdays because those are the only two days out of the week we can't get it. 

Come Wednesday, we're sprinting out to Midwood to hop back in the long line, and that, New Yorkers, is what you call devotion. 

Not today though. Today, for the first time since 2007, Di Fara Pizza is open on a Monday, so you can pop in and grab a pie from noon until 8 p.m. 

Not only that, but they'll be offering delivery in Manhattan for groups with large orders. Sure, it's a 10-pie minimum, but it's Di Fara. You almost need to order 10 just to hold you over for the days that they're closed. 

But really? A Monday?

Well, considering that Thursday's Thanksgiving, it makes sense for a notoriously busy pizzeria to offer a sound alternative to a day where thousands are looking to enjoy a food that's not pizza (but when do New Yorkers ever not want pizza, right?). 

The move is namely to provide an alternative to the pizzeria's general busyness, but if they're closed on Thanksgiving anyways, shouldn't they expect the lines to be just as long? 

As flawed as the logic here seems, we're just happy to have Di Fara on a Monday. This weekend was rough on our stomachs. Time to use the best pizza in NYC to get us right.
