1. Missing that especially annoying neighbor

So you’ve finally gotten away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. Good for you, you deserve it. And at last you've obtained some piece of tranquility, but after a few weeks it's going to sink in.

The mere silence will almost terrify you to the point that you’ll actually miss some level of noise. You’ll miss the nonstop barking from your neighbor's tiny, awful dog, or the way your neighbor seems to wake you up hours before your alarm almost religiously, each day, without fail.

2. Closing time

Speaking of sleep, we live in the city that never sleeps, and naturally, you'll find yourself unable to stay out as late as you normally would.

When we travel we tend to forget that every other city has too many seemingly awesome places that close early. This can be troublesome because we generally stay up late and we always find something to do in New York City. 

As a result, we’re left with little to do when the night falls elsewhere.

3. #TeamNoSleep

Let’s face it and when we do sleep-- sleeping in our own bed is a luxury.

When you travel away from home, you’re obligated to sleep in a different bed and it’s just not the same because it's not your bed. You'll feel strange without the endless sirens or your neighbor's Spanish music at 3 a.m., which somehow oddly always puts you to sleep.

Plus, most of the time you'll wake up with a backache, and that's rarely a good thing. Kidding. It's never a good thing.

4. Slow walkers

Everyone else is pretty much laid-back in other countries and states. They take their time with things, but New Yorkers are accustomed to that fast paced, frenetic energy.

We can stand up to a challenge and prosper under pressure.

We drive fast, we talk quickly, we speed walk (when there's space), and it can get extremely overwhelming when someone else is not on the same page as us, let alone an entire city, state, or country.

5. Pizza

Everyone always loves to try new things and be adventurous. Well, that's why you decided to board on a plane and get away in the first place, right?

Different types of foods will satisfy you. It’s true... but how long until you throw in the towel because nothing quite beats a good ol' fashioned New York slice of pizza?

6. Nesting issues

We’ve all heard, “home is where the heart is,” and this rings true especially when you’re far away. Your home is your safe place, your safe haven. Your sanctuary of comfort where you are king or queen.

It's okay to get away from the chaos once a while, but no matter where we roam no other place is quite comparable. You'll miss the beautiful scenery of the city's skyline at night because NYC is our first love. And it always will be.
