Facebook's Product Manager Killy Winter wrote an article in Facebook's newsroom yesterday, outlining Facebook's plan to help their users get through breakups.

We appreciate this effort because we all know the knife-twisting-in-stomach feeling of seeing our exes pop up on our news feeds trailing rotted intimacy. 

We all know that insatiable urge to torture ourselves by just sneaking one peak at our ex's Facebook, a peak that all too often turns into hours of tormented stalking.

We know we're not alone here, right?

It's good to know in this age of instant-access and perpetual connectivity that there's still some hope that we'll be able to get some virtual distance from our exes without un-friending them.

We mean, let's be real: What shouts "I'm not over you" louder than un-friending someone on Facebook?

So, like we said, we are immensely relieved that finally, there's a solution to all this anguished internet interaction among exes.

"Starting today, we are testing tools to help people manage how they interact with their former partners on Facebook after a relationship has ended," Winters wrote. "When people change their relationship status to indicate they are no longer in a relationship, they will be prompted to try these tools."

With these new handy tools Winter's referenced, you'll be able to see less of a former partner's name and profile picture around Facebook, and here's the key detail: without having to unfriend or block them.

If you activate the new feature, your ex's posts won't show up in your newsfeed and your ex's name won't be suggested when people write a new message or tag friends in photos.

Can we get a collective hallelujah on that, please? 

Let's be real about the situation: sometimes just seeing someone's name is enough to send a knife through the heart, so now, we won't have to see their names.

Even better is that you'll also be able to limit the photos, videos, or status updates your former partner will be able to see.

So that picture of you slinging your arm over a new beau? You can keep your ex from seeing that, if you want to.

You'll also have a much quicker, less messy option for untagging past posts with a partner. Though, this one is kind of sad. 

Once you're over a relationship and nostalgia hits, you may want to go back and peruse these pictures.

Still, we are way stoked that Facebook is taking all these emotions into account. First, they promised new reaction buttons. Now, they're helping us sort through the pain of a breakup?

We're getting more and more okay with Facebook's internet domination if they keep coming in hot with these updates. That's all we're saying.
