We're going to throw this out there... New York City is known for a lot of things, but we're not particularly known for our BBQ.

That distinction is pretty well cemented in states where people spend hours arguing the proper rub or smoking techniques to cure the tenderest brisket just like their mama used to make.

But as New Yorkers, we're a pretty impatient bunch.

We don't have time (or the space) to smoke our own pork shoulder.

Luckily for us, two spots in NYC, BrisketTown and Mighty Quinn's, have been declared as some of the Best BBQ in the country by TimeOut, and they're both pretty spectacular

1. BrisketTown (359 Bedford Avenue - Brooklyn)

BrisketTown in Williamsburg takes its Texas-style BBQ seriously.

Owner, Daniel Delaney, smokes his seasoned ribs over an oak fire for 15 hours before serving them with sides of collared greens and potato salad.

2. Mighty Quinn's (various locations)

grubshotsnyc Finger lickin' good.

Mighty Quinn's grew in popularity thanks to Smorgasburg and now has six locations in NY and NJ.

Owner, Hugh Mangum, cooks his meets with a unique combination of Texas style BBQ spice and Carolina style vinegar tang. His brisket is slow cooked for 22 hours, but we're pretty sure you'll down it in a couple seconds.

These two NYC BBQ joints joined a list of 21 other excellent BBQ spots from around the country, and you absolutely have to check them out. Like, now.
