The latest New York Times/Siena Research poll of 1,961 voters is in, and the news isn't great for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. 

NYC voters, especially white voters, are the least pleased with de Blasio than they've ever been after two years in the captain's chair.

Compared to last year's numbers, de Blasio's approval rating has dropped eight points from 52% down to 44%.

White voters stood out the most, as a whopping 59% disapprove, while less than a third, 28%, see de Blasio in a positive light at the moment. 

Alternatively, minority voters are largely of the opposite opinion with Hispanics polling at 54% approval and black voters registering 57% approval. 

Ethnic backgrounds aside, forty percent of New Yorkers think the City is headed in the "right direction," while 52% of voters polled think the opposite. Eight percent weren't sure.

Another troubling statistic for de Blasio and his supporters is the 14% rise, from 26% to 40%, in voters who believe he is too involved in issues that don't pertain to NYC.

But it's not all bad news though as 40% think he's "focused enough" on the City and 59% are optimistic about the rest of his term.

Another plus for de Blasio? Approval for his highest profile appointee, NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton shot up 31% from last year, landing at 52%. 

So while a solid portion of New Yorkers aren't happy, most believe there is room for improvement and expect the mayor will take care of business.
