Have you ever been walking the streets of New York City and noticed all the manhole covers that read "Made in India" in big letters? Did it ever seem a little weird that we'd need to source these metal discs from the other side of the world?
So maybe it's not that weird considering that in today's globalized economy, we're importing products and materials like never before, including manhole covers from Howrah, India-- one of the largest exporters of sanitary castings.
Curious New York filmmaker Natasha Raheja created a documentary to explain the everyday question, "Who makes these 'Made in India' manhole covers come from?"
Called Cast in India, Raheja's documentary is about "[Enlivening] the everyday objects all around us."

The movie is essentially a day in the life of the men working to create these things we just see as pieces of the ground, and hope they don't collapse underneath us. Check out the trailer. It's pretty interesting.
