They call it "the City that never sleeps," and that's true for a lot of reasons. For sure, New York City doesn't stop cold in its tracks at 6 p.m. like lots of places around the country. Part of that is due to our love affair, nay, obsession with coffee.
We're so into coffee that there's a chance you may walk into a coffee shop of birthday-suited baristas sporting body paint. Yes, of course there's video. Moreover, for the last century Vassilaro & Sons coffee was even the driving force behind developing the iconic NYC diner culture we all grew up on.
But did you ever wonder exactly how much caffeine is in your cup of coffee? Did you know different brands have different caffeine contents?
There's an infographic illustrating a variety of brands' caffeine contents, and it may be just the thing you need to inform your coffee consumption, because you may want stronger coffee at different times, right?
Right. Because if you just need a little bump of energy, you're not going to want to drink the coffee that's six times as caffeinated as the competition. Conversely, if you really want to wake up, you're not going to want the weakest Joe on the planet.
The image outlines nine brand's caffeine content by milligrams per fluid ounce, which is means how much of each bit of liquid is actually caffeine. And it varies-- a lot.
McDonald's weighs in as the biggest loser, at only 9.1mg/fl. oz while Deathwish Coffee is the champion on the list with a heart-racing 54.2 mg/fl. oz.

It looks like the average caffeine content is between 12 to 15 mg/fl. oz, and that's probably what most of us are used to.
Being that it's not recommended to consume much more than five cups of average coffee, more than one cup of Deathwish might actually might help you move at the speed of light or just sit in one place shaking ferociously thinking about what else-- coffee.
