Weather patterns in the North Eastern United States can be a little wacky. Okay, so a lot wacky. 

Traditionally, we're supposed to see a decently snowy winter every year, but over the last 20 years or so, things have been changing all around the globe, contributing to wild weather patterns everywhere.

One such phenomena, El Niño, especially messes us up. Due to warmer than average ocean temperatures in the Pacific Ocean near the equator, El Niño manages to ripple effect our weather here in New York City, as well as a lot of other places.

But this year we don't just have El Niño, we have El Niño so bad that meteorologists are calling it "Godzilla." 

With this especially intense El Niño we're expected to have a warmer and more moist winter than we're used to, resulting in heat in humidity that we're more used to seeing in the summer. 

The additional heat and humidity often result in intense storms that seem to show up out of nowhere, and this year's intensity is near the top of recorded weather history.

Not only that, there are other variables contributing to our beautiful weather in November. One that seems like it would be the most far-removed from affecting our weather is the October snowfall in Siberia.

Meteorologists gauge Siberia's October snowfall because an unusually high amount of snow will "feed back" into North Eastern American weather patterns, according to Bill Goodman, a forecaster at the National Weather Service New York.

Goodman anticipates that we have a greater than 33% chance of above average amounts of precipitation for the month of December, but given the global weather variables, it is difficult to predict. 

While it's a little strange for it to be 70 degrees out and dark at 6 p.m., it's a little hard to complain at this point. Sure, the seasons and the weather in general has a mind of its own, but the best we can do is adapt.
