You may remember earlier in the year when we brought you the news that a crowd-funded Ferris wheel soaring close to 650 feet in the sky was in the works for Staten Island.

Despite the fact that construction began back in May, Staten Island's New York Wheel still needed approval from the City Council.

The changes that needed approval revolved around more parking being added to the plans, and it's now official: City Council has OK'd it. 

There was plenty of parking included in the original plan, but engineers decided to make what was a three-story parking structure into a four-story structure while reducing the overall footprint-- which is definitely a good thing. 

Developers are open to the concept of using more natural ventilation in favor of mechanized ventilation, which will make the entire operation more "green".
