Nearly everybody in New York City has a memory of 9/11, and an opinion on everything regarding how the World Trade Center site has been developed since construction began at Ground Zero.
But it's true that opinions are like eyeballs, nearly everybody has at least one and they're not always in focus.
So of course, some people are mad and some people are happy that income from WTC will nearly repay all the funds the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has invested in rebuilding the site... by 2036.
The news comes from a recent New York University Rudin Center report, showing that the approximately $7 billion the Port Authority has invested will take about 20 years to payoff.
Considering lots of people think the Port Authority has no business in real estate, the news is definitely frustrating to some people. To others, it's positive because it's important for the Authority to stay solvent with so many projects underway and on the horizon.

It's not surprising that there is lots of conjecture surrounding the WTC site. Obviously, people feel strongly about it. Not only that, but people feel strongly about their wallets and what's good for the Port Authority is basically good for NYC.
Considering City and State governments are usually the ones throwing in on all the transit projects the Port Authority is in on, your taxes are potentially directly affected by how the Port Authority's doing financially.
The more you know, right?
