A lot of people get stuck in one or two black holes of content on Instagram: people you know who take horrible photos of stupid things, and celebrities you don't know who take terrible photos of stupid things.
But there's more on Instagram than horrible photos of stupid things. That's a lot of it, but that's not anywhere near all of it.
Now there are tons of people on the food porn thing, and we laid out a list of some of the best in New York City for you, which promptly turned into Seamless, and then guilt.
But besides cats, food and booty, what else is there to soak in on IG?
NYC, of course. Everyone loves images of the City for a bunch of reasons. For one, the it's always changing so the image you get today may not exist in reality as of tomorrow. Also, it's a beautiful place.
How beautiful? There's close to a million images hashtagged #brooklynbridge; that's only one bridge... There's over 2.5 million with #centralpark. There's over 1.5 million with #bronx, and over 9.5 million for #brooklyn.
Has it sunk in yet that people love taking photos of NYC and posting them to Instagram yet? So, of course, we went out and found some of the best IG photographers who shoot exclusively NYC because we love you, you love the City, and we love the City.
We're running down 9 of our favorite NYC-themed Instagram pages (in no particular order).
Some of these photographers are professionals and some are gifted amateurs: regardless of how they make their living, they're on the list for a reason.

NY on Air is a company offering helicopter rides over NYC, and the photos they capture are unbelievable.
As far we we're concerned, they're the measuring stick against which all other NYC aerial photographers are measured.

Anthony Fields is a photographer living in Yonkers who does a lot of sunsets, cityscapes and sunrises. We like the above black and white because it's out of the ordinary for him.
If you look around on his page, you'll see lots of natural looking color; he doesn't make everything neon.
This is Anthony Quintano. He likes to shoot a lot of cityscapes, celebrities, and autumn colors.
But what's really interesting are his overhead shots of things like 1 World Trade or a ferryboat.

Brian, a Chief Engineer, is also a gifted photographer. He also belongs to a variety of photo sharing communities like @the_visionaris and @NYCprimeshot.
Many of his shots are of skyscrapers and what not, but this one of the front of a bodega at night under the tarp is wicked cool.
Another photo sharing page, these photos aren't necessarily shot by the curator of the page. The KRS-One mural pictured above was done by @bg183tatscru with @crashone, biotatscru, @nicetatscru, and @per.one_fx.
NYC street art is a cultural institution we take very seriously, especially regarding the Teacher KRS-One, especially up in the Boogie Down Bronx.

Johnny, who's apparently from Yonkers, also seems like the man. Just look at his default image. The guy's NYC through and through, Carhartt winter hat and everything.
His images are nice too. Lots of very crisp and realistic shots of the City, and also a good amount of autumn at the top of his feed. There's something to be said about flashy editing, but much of Johnny's work reminds you how beautiful the City is on its own.
midnight.xpress I've been to hell and back 4 times yet never got to the top. RIP to some of the best places
The photographer known as "T," @midnight.xpress is pretty adventurous. You'll find lots of images from kind of scary heights and locations, like the above bridge shot.
The locations aren't necessarily "legal," but that's not even the important part. The important part is that T gets there, gets the shot, and gets it in front of you. And we couldn't be more thankful.

Don Doherty shoots a lot of skyscrapers, bridges, and sunsets against the skyline like many NYC-centric photographers.
He, like us, is a fan of wispy cloud systems juxtaposed against the angular skyline. He must amplify that wispiness because many of his images definitely have a fantasy quality while remaining rooted in reality.

As you might imagine, this page mainly has images from underneath NYC's streets. There are lots of subway photos featuring a variety of models, from fitness to fashion, the subjects of the images are always pretty stunning.
Not only that, the locations are pretty damn cool a lot of the time. The above image is something of a departure as you can't see the subjects face and he's not standing in the middle of a subway platform, but we dig.

Similar to the Instagram account turned coffee table book "Humans of New York," this page is onto something. In general, New Yorkers love pictures of themselves, but we are not generally kind when you take them without our permission.
People of Penn Station is either really sneaky or really personable, because these photos of people in the thick of their commute are freakin' fantastic.
