Happy 111th Birthday, New York City subway system! Now, onto some real business... because honestly, enough is enough with all of these fare hikes going down, year after year. 

And although begrudgingly accepted by most New Yorkers, the MTA's hikes rarely improve overall service and experience for the long haul. 

All of this makes most New Yorkers question, "Where is our money really going?!"

So how about this: sign this petition-- which was first started way back earlier this year-- and take an affirmative stand to lower the MTA transit fare back down to $2. 

It's no secret that most New Yorkers are barely able to make ends meet with this city's current cost of living. 

And it's a well-known fact that many really rely on the MTA to get from point A to point B-- but this shouldn't give them the audacity to consistently take advantage of us, right? Right.  

Seriously, where are we all going to end up with each and every fare hike, year after year? An unlimited monthly MetroCard is currently at $116.50 and living in New York City is getting more and more expensive as each year passes. 

If they would at least abide by their mission statement to provide reliable, on-time, and clean service, then perhaps we will all be somewhat pleased that something is getting done, and done right. (Wishful thinking, we know.)

But for the most part, prices are drastically going up year after year, and no major changes are being made, seen, or felt-- especially in NYC's outer boroughs.  

This is why the public must take a definitive step to try to make a difference and be seen and heard by those MTA big wigs. 

So here's that Change.org petition from earlier this year. Now remember to have a helluva 111th birthday, NYC subway, and many, many more!
