You may remember how earlier in the month we expressed our anticipatory chagrin for the onset of the Holidays in New York City? Yeah you do. 

We laid out a list of ice skating rinks that were opening early around such absurdly early-timed things... like the Bank of America Winter Village in Bryant Park. 

Sure, it's kind of weird to get pumpkin-spiced anything at a corporate holiday shopping cluster-mess, then go ice skating and maybe pick up a Thanksgiving centerpiece-- all before Halloween, mind you. 

But, alas, New Yorkers and also a ton of people who come into New York City for festivities love this stuff. It's like Martha Stewart threw up "cheerful decor" that nobody actually asked for all over the place, and tourists eat it right up.

Regardless of how early corporations decide to erect their altars to holiday commercialism, people will always pay a premium for handmade garbage nobody wouldn't look twice at on Etsy.

And you know why? Because they add these impulse buy-heavens to an activity that lots of people adore: ice skating. So yeah, the Rockefeller Center rink is already open, and probably packed. 

And the Winter Village at Bryant Park (and the rink, you know... the fun part) pops off today.

So here's what you need to know for the rest of the season, because there are a bunch of rinks opening over the next couple of weeks and it is-- however touristy-- a thing you should probably cross off your winter bucket list in NYC.
