Hey New York City, we hate to say that we've got to report on yet another new high rise, but uh, we gotta. 

Why does this keeping happening to us? Why do the architects of NYC seem intent on maiming our skyline to the point that it's unrecognizable?

Well, we're not sure about the answer to those questions, but we do have some facts.

Extell's 80-story building, dubbed One Manhattan Square, will be built to contain 800 condos at 252 South Street. In some good news, they actually won't be that expensive. 

The site's front on Cherry Street will have a 205-unit building with affordable rentals designed by Dattner Architects.

By affordable and "not that expensive" we mean they'll go for $1-3 million, according to 6sqft. We're aware that those prices are expensive by many accounts, but the point is that they're way less expensive than their uptown counterparts.

Gary Barnett (founder and CEO of Extell Development) will begin marketing these condos to Asian buyers first. He's got exhibitions planned in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bejing, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur this November.

"There are a tremendous amount of people who would like to own something in New York City but are priced out because everybody's building super-luxury," said Barnett.

The building will soar 80 stories tall at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge. It'll be one of the largest condominium towers in the city, and its final height will be roughly the same as the Comcast Building in Midtown.

The tower's 850 feet will be the tallest scraper in Manhattan between Midtown and downtown, and certainly the tallest building directly along the waterfront. It'll be the second largest individual condo tower in the city, second to the 816-unit Corinthian in Murray Hill.

Most units will have incomparably stunning views of the skyline, the rivers, and bridges. They'll also get unlimited access to a squash court, golf simulator, bowling alley, basketball court, lap pool, a Turkish bath, sauna and steam rooms, landscaped gardens, a tea pavilion, and art studios.

The complex is set to be completed in late 2018, and will hit the U.S. market early next year. We're certainly intrigued, and plan to start saving. How about you?
