You may remember back in April, we brought you the latest on the Dekalb Market Hall due to open in 2016 at 1 Dekalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn.
It'll be 26,000 square feet and have space for about 60 food vendors.
There will be a Trader Joe's too, which is like, ok, sure. The roster of vendors was already pretty exciting, featuring the likes of Arepa Lady, Steve's Ice Cream and Fletcher's Brooklyn Barbecue.
But now, Katz's Deli is on board too.
Let that sink in for a moment.
After over a hundred years, there will be a second place in New York City where you can get your Katz's fix, and it's in freakin' Brooklyn. Of course it is!
Owner Jake Dell said, "The main thing is that it's hard to get down to the Lower East Side, and Brooklyn has been a strong part of our customer base; we can make it a little easier for our customers who have been coming for generations."
Dell's got the right idea with bringing Katz's to Brooklyn, but who the heck has a hard time getting to the Lower East Side...especially from Brooklyn? It's a straight shot, dawg, you never been on the F train? That's inconsequential, though. Katz's Deli is an NYC institution. We need more.

Maybe some of the Katz' customers who have been schlepping over a bridge for half a century or more just to get some good pastrami actually do have a hard time getting there. We can understand that. Convenience is key.
Yet we regress. "More good sandwiches" is a slogan basically everyone can get behind, especially when they're from a tried and true iconic member of the Olympian NYC eatery sphere.
