Well, besides plenty of excellent foliage, there are lots of chill events happening in Staten Island this fall.
What are they, you're wondering?
Well that's what we're here for, isn't it? Here's the lowdown. You haven't really experienced fall in Staten Island until you've been pumpkin picking at Decker Farm, or until you've hiked the Greenbelt Conservancy.
What else should you make sure to get up to in Staten Island this fall? Read on to find out, we've got it all listed below.
1. Pumpkin Picking at Decker Farm (until November 1st)

Have you been pumpkin picking yet? Have you been on a hayride?
If you answered no to either of these questions, don't freak out. There's still time to get to Decker Farm one of these weekends, and be a part of everything they've got going on.
What exactly do they have going on? Excellent question. They've got a farmhouse tour of their 1800s farm, a corn maze you can amble through, a hayride, arts and crafts, face painting, and of course pumpkin picking.

2. Staten Island Jazz Festival (October 17th)

If you're a jazz enthusiast, the Staten Island Jazz Festival is where you need to be. It's going down on Saturday, October 17th from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Snug Harbor Music Hall, and it's going to be all the rage.
This festival's been bringing rocking jazz music to critical acclaim and loyal audiences for over 25 years. This year's performers include the Danny Mixon Quartet, the Winard Harper Ensemble, Kiane Zawadi, Hamiet Bluiett, and more.
This is an all day festival with jazz-themed workshops designed for everyone's enjoyment. These free workshops will be offered before the music performances, and will culminate with a panel discussion.

3. The Great American Harvest Fest (October 18th)
Do you want to celebrate life in the Historic Richmond Town, then enjoy the glory of crispy fall air at Decker Farm? Doing both in one day sounds pretty excellent, doesn't it?
Whatever order you decide to make this trip in, you'll get to enjoy the thrill of both places for one price on October 18th. There will be a free shuttle between Richmond Town and Decker Farm all day long.
In Richmond Town, you'll have the opportunity to stroll down Center Street and peruse craftsmanship spanning centuries of American life. There will also be cider pressing, candle making, embroidery and needlework, furniture making, knitting, lace making, and much more.
At Decker Farm, there will be a corn maze, hayrides, and pumpkin picking. Sounds pretty great, right? The whole thing costs $6, and you can buy tickets here.
4. Halloween Extravaganza (October 24th)

If you thought Staten Island wouldn't throw down for Halloween, you were grievously wrong.
Taking place on October 24th at The Conference House (298 Satterlee Street), Staten Island's Halloween Extravaganza will include plenty of Halloween delights.
What delights? How about a haunted kitchen, hayrides, magic shows, an aerialist performance, plus the All American Hot Dog Stand? In our opinions, that all sounds very excellent.
There will also be arts and crafts, tattoos, games, and bouncy rides. The Haunted Kitchen costs a dollar to enter, and the hayride costs $5.
We don't think we're wrong in assuming that everyone here will be in costume. So the big question is, what are you dressing as?
,5. Haunted Greenbelt Walk (October 29th)
At 5:30 p.m., you'll have the opportunity to combine your thrill of the unknown with your love of nature at High Rock Park (200 Nevada Avenue).
At the Haunted Greenbelt Walk, you'll learn about creatures of the night and hear enchanted tales during a moderately paced hike. So you'll get to cross "hike the Greenbelt Conservancy" and "attend a haunted event" off your bucket list all in one fell swoop.
Here's the best tip you'll get all day: wear sturdy hiking shoes and insect repellent, and bring a flashlight or headlamp.

6. Halloween in Richmond Town (October 30th)
We've already convinced you the Historic Richmond Town is excellent for fall, right?
Great, then we won't have to do much to explain why Halloween in Richmond Town is awesome. We'll just tell you what's happening.
From 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. there will be trick or treating, crafts, apple bobbing, and games. There will also be a costume contest, and it's expected to be vicious.
If you have a little cousin, sibling, or child you need to spend some time with, this is a great opportunity. It costs $10 for children and $5 for adults, and it'll go down rain or shine.
7. Halloween Hoopla (October 30th)

Hey everyone, Halloween Hoopla is free!
It's going down on October 30th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bloomingdale Park, and will include a hay maze, inflatable attractions, pony rides for small children, a costume parade, and trick-or-treating.
There will also be live musical performances and a magic show. Staten Island Borough President James S. Oddo will host this event, so join him and get your Halloween on, why don't you?
