On Tuesday, Starbucks announced they'd start desk deliveries in the Empire State Building.

As of late, the Seattle-based chain invested heavily into mobile ordering and pay, in an effort to increase customer loyalty and visits. Now, they'll be bringing New Yorkers their caffeine jolts straight to their desks in the Empire State Building, according to USA Today.

The service has been titled Green Apron Delivery, and Empire State Building tenants will be able to order from a slimmed-down menu, which will include coffee, espresso beverages, breakfast sandwiches and lunch options through a web site.

Starbucks officials announced earlier this year that they'd test two-pronged delivery services in New York and Seattle, and today it starts. The service launched on Tuesday in the Empire State Building is obviously a building-specific approach.

Are we bummed that they're only bringing coffee to the Empire State Building and not every other building in the city? Let's put it this way. We're not not bummed. 

The real question is, is there hope for this desk delivery to expand to other office buildings throughout New York City?

"In dense, urban environments like office buildings, we believe we've cracked the code on another way to bring Starbucks to our customers, and that's to have baristas on hand to provide an exclusive service within an office building," Starbucks chief digital officer Adam Brotman said to shareholders earlier this year, when they announced they'd test Green Apron Delivery.

Starbucks has pledged to have the Empire State Building's tenants' orders delivered in 30 minutes or fewer. There is a $2 delivery fee, though Starbucks spokeswoman Haley Drage said the fee is waived for October.

Will this service expand throughout the city? We certainly hope so, and we'll keep you updated as we learn more. For now, though, we'll just have to physically walk into Starbucks... which does, indeed, suck.
