Since New York City is famous for our bagels, we figured we should also discuss what to put on those bagels. We're talking eggs, bacon, maybe even tomatoes. We're talking about New York City's best breakfast sandwiches.

We're thinking taste, crispiness, and originality. We're thinking the kind of breakfast sandwich that leaves you satisfied and dreaming about it for the rest of the day.

So where in NYC can you get the most delicious breakfast sandwich that satisfies all the above requirements? Read on to find out.

1. Egg Shop (151 Elizabeth Street)

We're going to go ahead and say it: Egg Shop is easily one of the most delicious places for breakfast sandwiches in all of NYC.

They serve organic and locally sourced breakfast sandwiches, everything from an egg-white spinach scramble to a bacon-egg-and-cheese. They're all delicious.

Here are some of the things we love to eat from Egg Shop. Their salmon egg sandwich comes topped with mustard seed dressing that we want to marry. They've also got avocado toast with perfectly seasoned avocado atop delicious bread.

It's also one of the best fried chicken finds in the whole city, with crispy, boneless, dark meat chicken under a magical drizzle of honey. Try this before you die.

2. City Sandwich (649 9th Avenue)

Is City Sandwich the most underrated breakfast sandwich joint in the whole city?

Well, we'll leave that up to you to decide, but roll up squad deep with caution; the place is tiny. The fact of the matter is, though, the breakfast sandwiches are simply amazing.

If we had to choose our favorite breakfast sandwich at City Sandwich, we would certainly pick the bench girl, which is so delicious our mouths are watering just thinking about it. It's filled with melted mozzarella, an omelet, spinach, sautéed onions, and olive oil. 

Yeah, we know. Incredible right?

3. Eggs Travaganza (52nd Street & Park Avenue)

The chorizo fresco at Eggs Travaganza has our hearts, and we're not giving it up anytime soon. Its chorizo tastes spice and smoky, and the bacon is sliced so that you'll have a perfect chunk of bacon in every bite.

They've got a fairly large menu for a food truck, which is delightful for those who love variety. Even if you play it safe and order the classic sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel, we're confident you'll still leave satisfied. 

Overall, their ingredients are fresh and yummy. All their orders are made-to-order, but you won't have to wait long before chomping into breakfast-sandwich-happiness.

4. Murray's Cheese Shop (various locations)

Do you sometimes scare yourself with how much you love cheese?

At Murray's Cheese Shop, you won't be alone in your intense cheese love. Murray's is an NYC institution, and their breakfast melt would absolutely rock your world. It's got a secret blend of cheeses, savory bacon, and fried egg, all atop a crispy English muffin. Talk about incredible.

Plus, let's just talk about Murray's breakfast burrito for a second. Does a burrito count as a breakfast sandwich? In our opinions it does.

Packed with potato, black beans, salsa, pepper jack cheese, eggs, and bacon, you might lose consciousness when you taste how scrumptious the breakfast burrito tastes. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Their breakfast is served until 4 p.m., so they obviously know what's up.

5. Crave Sandwiches (1120 6th Avenue)

When you order an egg sandwich, you expect a fried egg on that sandwich, right?

Not at Crave. Crave stacks their breakfast sandwiches with sliced boiled eggs, granting themselves points on originality. 

They use hormone and antibiotic free meat and cheese, and source their breads locally, delivered hot from the oven. They also get their vegetables fresh from local markets, which makes munching on their delicious sandwiches even more pleasant. 

They also serve breakfast wraps covered in a honey whole wheat wrap. One's filled with hard boiled egg, feta, tomato, spinach and olive oil. Another's filled with egg, provolone, portobello, mesclun and olive oil.

We'd be lying if we said we didn't daydream about Crave often.

6. Ess-A-Bagel (831 3rd Avenue)

Ess-A-Bagel is delicious for its no-frills, no messing around bagels. Their bagels are fresh, soft and chewy and their cream cheese is creamy and overwhelming in its wonderfulness.  

So which bagel sandwiches at Ess-A-Bagel are our favorites? Great question.

We'll go insane over the Smoked Filet of Trout any morning. Does anything make us happier than that first bite into that cream cheese, cucumbers, lettuce, bagel and trout goodness? Truthfully, not really.

There are certainly long lines outside Ess-A-Bagels on the weekends, but we'll do it happily for those bangin' breakfast sandwiches.

7. Saltie (378 Metropolitan Avenue - Brooklyn)

This Williamsburg sandwich shop blows our minds on the regular. It's hands down the best sandwich shop in its neighborhood. It's a cool little spot with a great vibe, changing specials, and some of the most interesting sandwich you'll ever try. As you'd expect, the sandwiches are piled with salt. 

Should you try the Scuttlebutt? Well, do you love doughy foccacia bread that soaks up the perfect amount of sauce? We thought so.

Packed with boiled eggs, beets, capers, feta cheese and olives, we're not saying it won't change your life.

Ship's biscuit is another delicious breakfast sandwich option, full of soft scrambled eggs and ricotta, also between two slices of their foccacia. Eating this sandwich is a truly satisfying experience that will leave you satiated all day.
