It's been a big year for Amy Schumer, obviously. She won an Emmy, a Critic's Choice Award, and a Peabody Award. She wrote and starred in the box office hit Trainwreck, and her HBO special premiers on October 17th at 10 p.m.
Yet, Schumer's still so endearingly humble. During her opening monologue on Saturday's episode of Saturday Night Live, she was clearly enthusiastic about hosting the show even though she did not need to host the show for visibility.
She was floored that Bradley Cooper would want to spend time with her, was confident about her sexiness while referring to her body parts as a "lava lamp," and tackled social issues like gun control and women's rights head-on.
All-in-all, Schumer continued her streak of viscously clever comedy. We highlighted the best segments from the episode below, but you should definitely go watch it for yourself because it was more than good.
1. The monologue
Watch this. Just do it. Schumer uses this monologue to continue her parade of hilarious brilliance. Like, she compares bathing her niece to a Tinder swipe.
Here are some more highlights. Amy and Bradley Cooper hang out at an event, so therefore they're engaged. If you're a girl who isn't into Bradley Cooper, Amy says you have a golden vagina and she celebrates you, but urges that if you met Bradley in person you'd change your tune.
Is it a big time for women in Hollywood because Amy hung out with Bradley Cooper? You'll have to watch the monologue and decide.
2. Delta Flight
It's always perfect when Amy Schumer and Vanessa Bayer get together, and "Delta Flight" is absolutely no exception.
Becca (Amy) and Carla (Vanessa) are celebrating Delta's achievement as scoring the third most fun airline in Delta Magazine. This is understatedly funny, because it's Delta Magazine.
To commemorate the achievement, they've written a song for the flight. Then, the door to the plane opens and chaos ensues.
3. Porn Teacher
In "Porn Teacher," Amy plays a math teacher who keeps one of her students after class in a spoof of a bad porn plot line.
The fourth wall is completely broken, though, when of the students (Aidy Bryant) isn't in on the joke. She stays after class to ask Schumer about the math test, saying, "You said there was a test, but you didn't say what it was on!"
The best part is when Bryant's mom, played by Vanessa Bayer, comes to pick her up and says, "I was worried about sending my daughter to this school, because it's just an office building."
4. Guns
Amy Schumer's been outspoken about gun control after two people were killed during a screening of Trainwreck in a movie theater in Lafayette Lousiana in July.
Now, she and SNL have teamed up by using comedy and irony as their greatest weapons. This sketch is a montage of important moments in people's lives, and yes, during all these moments, all these people have guns.
This sketch uses hilarity to illustrate the absurdity of certain interpretations of the Second Amendment, and we applaud it.
5. Ford's Theatre
In "Ford's Theatre," Amy plays a character playing Mary Todd Lincoln in a touring museum in Washington D.C.
She's supposed to simply pretend she's having a relaxing night at the theatre with her husband, Abraham Lincoln, but Schumer's character just can't hold back and let John Wilkes Booth shoot Lincoln. She keeps punching him in the face before he gets the chance.
This episode is even more hilarious because Schumer's character couldn't possibly fathom the fact that Booth was there to kill Lincoln. She's convinced he's there to sexually violate her instead.
