Hey New York City, you ready for this week?

There's a ton of good stuff going on. From film festivals like the Indie Film Festival and the Chelsea Film Festival, to the NYCWFF, one of the most incredible food festivals of the year, you'll have ample opportunity to eat your fill and gape at incredible films.

You'll also be able to rock out early for Halloween at the Halloween Harvest Festival on Sunday, and booze until you're brilliant when it comes to NYC history at the Drunk History Tour of New York on Friday.

2. Indie Film Festival (358 West 44th Street)

Oh, you haven't heard that October is film festival month? Well, it is, and if you didn't make it to the New York Film Festival or the Bushwick Film Festival, there's hope for you yet.

The NYC Indie Film Festival provides an outlet for independent cinema that features the work of those making films with small budgets and emerging filmmakers – the true indies.

The showcased films are from all around the world, and include short films, feature films, music videos, and animated works. It’s also aimed at creating the largest gathering worldwide of true indie filmmakers.

If you love indie films, don’t miss the chance to see a whole bunch of them at this film festival. If you're involved in the magic of filmmaking, don’t miss the chance to network at the NYC Independent Film Festival.

Tuesday, October 13th - Saturday, October 17th

3. CMJ Music Marathon (various locations)

Do you love music?

Well, if you're a human with a soul you probably answered yes. So, we've got some excellent news. 

The CMJ Music Marathon is going down this week in NYC, and it includes a daytime conference of music-industry panelists and evening performances by 1300 bands in 80 rock clubs throughout the city.

Basically, it's a big deal. Some of this year's performers include The Album Leaf, Beverly, and Car Seat Headrest. Plus, of course, tons more. Check the full list of events here, and buy a badge here.

Thursday, October 15th - Sunday, October 18th

4. New York City Wine and Food Festival (various locations)

This just in! Tickets are still available for the prestigious, the delicious, the famous NYCWFF.

The NYCWFF brings together 500 chefs, mixologists, culinary experts, and wine connoisseurs, who will host more than 100 events. The whole festival is a three-day celebration of uniting and feasting over food and drinking. 

Plus, 100% of the net proceeds from the whole festival benefit the Food Bank for New York City and Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® Campaign. 

So far, the Festival's raised $8.5 million to fight hunger. It's put on by the Food Network & Cooking Channel, so if you're someone who watches those shows religiously, you should get out and meet some of your favorite chefs and taste their delicious concoctions in real-time.

The events will be held at various locations including Pier 92 Rooftop, Pier 60 - Chelsea Piers, and the Warwick New York Hotel.

We're especial excited about Meatopia, which will be held at Pier 92 on Sunday October 18th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. What can we say? We're carnivores. It's going to be delicious, so of course, we're going to be there. 

Michael Symon will host, and delicacies will include pork, beef, lamb, chicken, duck, turkey, and quail. Basically, it'll be a meat-lover's heaven. You going? Grab tickets here.

5. Chelsea Film Festival (various locations)

We told you it was film festival month, didn't we? Of course we did. How silly of us. 

The Chelsea Film Festival is a nonprofit, international film festival celebrating the work of emerging filmmakers, producers, and actors.

They showcase a wide variety of film, from documentaries to feature-length films, all of which focus on the theme of “Global Issues.” 

Their vision is, quite simply, to use film to make the world a better place. This year’s theme is “Women in Film & Media," and we are on board with all of that.

The Chelsea Film Festival also seeks to empower risk-taking storytellers and developing independent artists and audiences worldwide. They’ve got separate categories defined by continent, and a final prize chosen according to quality and artistic vision.

Venues include the SVA Theatre, the Katie Murphy Ampitheatre, and The David Dubinsky Student Center. If you want to be a part of this transformative, empowering film festival, get your tickets here.

Friday, October 16th

6. Drunk History Tour of New York (Washington Square Arch)

Could you think of a more dynamic combination than learning all about our amazing city while getting tipsy? Yeah, we couldn't either.

The Drunk History Tour of New York includes historical re-enactments of what went down in our city centuries ago, trivia contests for those of you who already know what's up, improv comedy, and lots of drinks.

You'll follow your tour guide through the West Village, visiting historic and cultural landmarks like Aaron Burr's town house to the apartment where the Friends lived. You'll also pop into four of the neighborhood's friendliest pubs on the way. 

If you love drinking and you love history, this is the perfect Friday evening activity. Did we mention each of the four pubs will have welcome shots and drink specials at each? Well, they will.

Saturday, October 17th

7. The Hunt

On Saturday October 17th, the 95th edition of the Far Hills Race Meeting will go down in Far Hills New Jersey. It's a Steeplechase, so, you know, kind of a horse-of-a-different-color-type thing. 

Who knows how to get to Far Hills New Jersey?

Well, we're pretty sure you could take the NJ Transit, but we don't know why you would when Tailbus will take you there in a coach bus with swag.

The trip includes hassle-free transportation from Union Square to The Hunt, in Far Hills. Yes, there will be complimentary champagne and mimosas on the bus. There will also be complimentary breakfast, in the form of bagels and muffins, hoagies for lunch, and cookies and pastries.

Sunday, October 18th

8. Halloween Harvest Festival (32-01 Vernon Boulevard) 

Did you hear that Halloween's coming up?

If you told us you haven't, we wouldn't believe you, but anyway it is. So the Halloween Harvest Festival, held at Socrates Sculpture Park, is the perfect way to get your Halloween on.

Thanks to the Free Style Arts Association, there will be a costume and art-making workshop led by Socrates Artists and Free Style Association from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will also be face painting, a harvest festival dance, harvest food from local restaurants, live music, and a dog costume contest. 

This popped off festival is completely free, and is all going down from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Why not check it out?
